Looks like 4 years plus 2 via triggers maybe?

Time to PONY UP West Coast.

PONY UP OR WE'LL BID ON ANNABLEEEEE !!!!!

sorry that came out wrong... ermm.. let me try again later..

So we just let him go to the PSD, or Brisbane take our third rounder then.

Asking for it not to affect our FA compo only affects us as a request. Saying no, giving us a pick then having to trade that pick to Brisbane, a club that would be receiving no compo to begin with, is priority assistance for Brisbane, not WCE.

Let's just say Starcevich would want some assurance on his destination during trade period itself rather than "wait it out" till PSD. He doesn't have any relationship or element of trust with West Coast to believe the offer you make today will be there tomorrow.

So if you make that offer during trade window, then you have 2 choices - trade for him or take him as RFA diluting your pick 2.

Is Marshall a free agent?

Probably shouldn't make this comment if you don't know the answer.
More than aware of his status, the comparison is apt because your club don’t want to use Starcevich Free Agency Status.

Brisbane get nothing if any other clubs gets him via FA.

You'll only benefit because it's WCE and the AFL want to help your club out even more.
Absolutely irrelevant, the trade is between Brisbane and West Coast, it doesn’t matter what the hypothetical circumstances are to other teams.

Again, due to picking up Allen and Draper, Brisbane get NOTHING if Starcevich chooses any other club.

The AFL will look to give WCE 'assistance' to appear that they're helping a club down the bottom when, in reality, it only helps Brisbane get more points to match Annable.
What we’re doing within Free Agency has no bearing on TRADE value for Starcevich. Hence the Marshall / StKilda comparison.

Its quite simple, we should get value for TRADING a player of Starcevich caliber. This assistance package has likely saved your Hawks First rounder for you to use. From my perspective we’ve likely lost a few points dropping down to end of round compensation pick, so be thankful for that.

The best part is, we don’t really need it for Annables, as we’re likely to have enough assets to match the bid in this draft already. This will likely be used on a potential Ridley trade or brought forward to 2026, to roll out the same type of outcomes again.

So, being contracted for 2 more years, why would you make an irrelevant comments that has nothing to do with free agency?

Fine, take our 3rd rounder. It's more than you'll be getting anywhere else.

Only if you match his offer from WCE. If you don't, then there is no trade.

Capiche?

You're not trading Starcevich, unless you match his offer from WCE. With the players Brisbane are bringing in for free via free agency, I very much doubt Brisbane will be in any position to match an offer.

So, you want WCE's draft assistance to raid another bottom 4 club?

And you think this wouldn't be the AFL giving a leg up to the reigning premier, who's already raiding those same 2 clubs?

Right...

This is not true though, it determines his market value. Essentially making the only two profitable options for Brisbane, the eagles or him staying. Whether him staying means you can’t afford Ridley in the cap is another contention.

In terms of possible results for Brisbane it leaves the following options:

1. He stays and Brisbane can afford Ridley/don’t lose Bailey
2. He goes and Brisbane get something decent from west coast
3. He stays and Brisbane lose players/cant afford ridley
4. He goes anywhere else

To pretend it’s not a factor is as silly as pretending a potential Annable bid isn’t a factor.

Pretty clear that the AFL will give West Coast a pick that they need to trade to make this happen. West Coast basically structured part of their assistance request around it, and the AFL did literally the exact same thing with North.

Not a bad deal for West Coast - assuming the AFL play ball they will basically get pick 2 and Starcevich for Allen. 900k is a bit steep but with Harley already signed, that money's gotta go somewhere anyway.

It's also a massive win for Brisbane too. Beginning of second round pick and Oscar Allen for Starcevich. The AFL would be essentially gifting Brisbane a win from West Coast's issues

Listening to West Coast fans trying to tie themselves in knots as to why they won’t offer hp any decent value for a guy they’re supposedly offering a 6 year deal towards, is truly hysterical.

The fact they can’t threaten to take him in the PSD just makes it even better.
Why offer anything?

If Brisbane don't match, they get no compensation.

Anything going to Brisbane benefits only them and not WCE.

Are you happy with the current reigning premier getting even more kickbacks from AFL HQ?

LOL are you forgetting the Eagles are chasing Starz and if they sign him don't get anything for Allen.

It's a good way of seeing it because it's from an Eagles prospective the AFL giving you a pick to trade helps the Eagles you can't sign him as A PSD pick because he has a contract at the Lions

You should just take Starce as an RFA and take a hit on the Allen compo, why is it so hard?

Why would we do that?

We've performed worse than North when they got 3 years of draft assistance. We're asking for something minor that doesn't affect Brisbane whatsoever because there's no way in hell they'll match our offer.

Well, we could just tell him to nominate for the PSD and it ends up the same way anyway. There's zero risk he ends up at another club.

Dunno why we're being nice to Brisbane when they're poaching our captain.

Not suggesting being nice to Brisbane. I’ve been vocal that they receive far too many leg up’s.

I just think it’s an unfortunate situation where the compensation dilutes your Allen compo.

Match the offer.

Big week in the mines, hey? Struggling to comprehendo.

We’re not matching. He’s all yours. Enjoy your Allen compo old boy.

Unless you, say it with me now, pony up.

I would happily walk away from Starvevich and let him stay or go to another club, if it were my decision to make.

Gifting Brisbane an end of first rounder they'd never get if it were any of the 16 other clubs is putrid, considering they're about to pick up a player from their academy who'd potentially go #1 otherwise, to go with the 2 father sons they picked up in the past 3 years.

What do Brisbane posters think he’s worth as just a straight up trade, ignoring all the caveats with free agency and compensation pick dilution? Is pick 30 over or unders?

Hes out of contract, meaning he could go to the PSD if he chose to

He won't and it will almost certainly be whatever PP the Afl give us however
