I was in no way, shape or form rude to you. You put up an article by an australian journalist in response to my question about who considers Brendan Murphy to be the best player in his age group in Ireland. I pointed out the problem with the article (and made no reference to YOU whatsoever). So unless you actually wrote the article you have no real reason to get so precious about the whole thing.

The term 'Sheila' is generally derogatory though, just in case you didn't know that.

i have to say, you DO seem to have overreacted and, going by what gets chucked around on the main board, i'd suggest you'd be happier avoiding ever going there
our irish chum used a coupla colloquialisms, is about all i can see, apart from offering some fairly educated comments about the state of gaelic football and its players, something i admit to being totally ignorant of
but certainly, going on what i've been called by various weagles, carlton, collingwood, hawthorn, roos and essendon fans in the past 6 months or so, you've overreacted....i detected no rudeness whatsoever and welcome any further offerings from the ireland contingent
 
Apologies if I seemed a little abrupt (it wasn't intentional) but it does get a bit frustrating reading things on bigfooty from time to time that relate to the GAA and Ireland. I was actually looking at a collingwood forum (not BF) the other day and they all seemed to think that at the moment GAA players are on strike until they get paid for playing which is completely inaccurate. Anyway, I must learn not to get annoyed over such things as you are on the far side of the planet so the odd mistake is understandable! What I would say is this, if you want to know about what is going on in Ireland and which players are good etc. ask one of the Irish BF posters. We'll happily bore you to tears about the prospects of some u-15 wing back from Roscommon!:D

Yes people on AFL forums do like to talk about Gaelic Football even though most of us have a very basic understanding of the game. If i ever go to Ireland i will make sure i attend afew Gaelic Football matches.

So you're an Irish BF poster? How exciting... and is it true that Murphy is BIG in Ireland?

So any tip on who we can steal away from Ireland going forward into 2009. With the greatest respect that is because I now have Setanta Sports and they are going to be showing the GAA all of next year, so it would be good to now a) who to watch out for player wise with a view for recruitment for the Swans and b) who are the better GAA players and teams going into 2009.

Also so we know where you stand county wise, please tell us who you support in the GAA and maybe explain to us Aussies a thing or two about the GAA that we that don't already know and should know, going forward.

I am from Meath so you will forgive me if I don't mention any of our players as possible recruits! Kerry would be the kingpins of gaelic football and they are going for a 3rd All-Ireland in a row next year. Since Tadhg however I don't think I've heard of any AFL clubs approaching young Kerry players which seems a bit odd. The first meaningful GAA action will be the National League in the new year, however that is really only considered a training ground for blooding one or two new players before the real business starts i.e. the Championship in May.
