It is hypocritical for anyone to be criticising Harvey's comments that are not casting a similarly negative light on Scott's and Brayshaw's.Do you know what hypocritical means?

Rohan Connolly's take on it is interesting. I have plenty of respect for his opinions.
Article spot on the money. I didn't see the game, but the commentators on the ABC were very critical of Harvey's own game, while Connolly says he was North's best?

I don't agree . This is professional sport , he was genuinly upset and north have been going on and on at either looking like world beaters, then next time looking like duds. A time comes when people in age bracketts that have them supposedly ready to show up and don,t, is a time when the generals need to tell them to put in.Anyone else think this was the wrong thing to say publicly?

In a radio interview on ABC, a shattered Brent Harvey pointed the finger and named names, saying it was time for Sam Wright and Lachie Hansen to step up and show their potential.
"I think it is more our young guys not towing the line - the guys between 21-years and 25-years old - Sam Wright, Lachie Hansen - when are they going to step up?" Harvey said.
Just seeing if I'm out of step on this one, but I think this is an unforgivable thing to say publicly about one's team-mates
They mightn't have the guts. I know president Jeff would. It was pathetic. Would Maxwell or Judd or Ling or Brown etc say something like that?

What have North got to lose by having their captain come out publicly and lambasting players? I agree with Boomer and like him I was equally frustrated watching the tripe they dished up on Saturday. It's one thing to lose but to be uncompetitive is another.
I used to hate it when Laidley bagged players in post match stuff but the captain is a different story. If it is a one off then it can work.
The fact is both Lachie Hansen and Sammy Wright were always considered better 'prospects' than Boomer. Lachie a 3 pick, Sammy Wright a second rounder. From memory Boomer went about 47ish and only got picked up because Pagan had a punt in him.
I can see how Boomer, who's always had to prove himself in the game - you know, being tiny - might get pissed off with blokes with talent to burn who he feels aren't putting in.
This is the thing about Boom. He's yappy on the field and gets up opposition fans noses. But he's a fierce trainer, keeps himself in magnificent physical condition and rarely gets beaten and even when he does, tends to bounce back very quickly. He gets beaten in one game - everyone jizzes over whoever tagged him - but then he comes back. He has bad games once or twice a year but he never loses form.
Tell you what, there's every chance that in 2013 when Lachie has kicked 70 for the season and were playing a prelim,. there'll be an interview where he says it was after that Collingwood game when Boomer had a dip at him that he finally realised what he needs to do to excel at this level.
If we have a crap run and Boomer keeps slagging players in the media, then we've got a problem. A one off after a loss like that given where the list and the club is, fair enough.
Sooo theres still yet to be anything said about Harveys poor game against West Coast
I don't think Harvey playing one poor game doesn't mean he can't criticise other players performances. It's just the way he said it and the fact he singled out two guys that's the problem.
Or the fact he said senior players had held up their end of the bargain.I don't think Harvey playing one poor game doesn't mean he can't criticise other players performances. It's just the way he said it and the fact he singled out two guys that's the problem.

I say, well done Harvey. Let's sort out the wheat from the chaff NOW.
What happens if Hansen kicks 70 goals for another club? And he's interviewed, and says "There was a toxic atmosphere at North, and it felt like a 'us vs them' attitude amongst the senior players."
Just as likely as your story.
If all it took for every wasted talent to finally fulfil their potential was a verbal spray, Nick Davis would still be playing for the Swans instead of eating KFC and playing for the Balmain Dockers in the Sydney Football League.
There is that risk.
But let's face facts. Boomer Harvey is a premiership player, captain of the club, has captained his country, won an EJ Whitten, all the time being the smallest player in what is a fairly rough and ready contact sport.
He's renowned for his training ethic. He's never been involved in drunken lairising and the like.
For a young footy player who is serious about getting the best out of himself, you'd struggle to find a better role model.
If Boomer is giving you a rocket, probably best to listen.
The whole thing leaves a sour taste in the mouth agreed, but so does getting flogged by 87 points.
