..and another thing that is TOTALLY FRSUTRATING about this Carlton side. It's that inability to 'bridge the gap' between us and the top 6 sides. In recent times you've seen the Tigers, Hawthorn, and now of course The SCUM bridge the competitive gap against sides like Sydney, Stinkilda, Geelong, Adelaide, West Coast etc..etc...but we haven't. In fact these teams must pencil in 'easy win' when it comes to this Carlton side. These are small goals that Pagan and this team have simply not addressed over the last couple of years.

You cant bridge the gap if you dont have the players, jesus could coach carlton at the moment and we still wouldnt win.

As the commentators said today, we just have to keep developing the kids. Thought Murphy and Walker did ok today, although Walkers disposal still needs some work. I just get the feeling he is ready to explode for the Carlton Footy Club. The way he gets the ball and his ability on both sides of his body make him a very exciting prospect.

Agree 100%. We have a few older guys who are reasonable and alot of young players who may develop into stars. But we really don't have much in between. These players are those who we lost because of Elliot etc, we should be struggling really, because that was the purpose of the AFL sanctions. Give us time. The players who matter Fevola, Whitnall, Murphy, Walker etc will be there when we win our next Premiership, and there has been genuine progress in some other players such as Betnick Simpson, and Betts even Wiggins has been reasonable the last couple of outings. I know it's hard but forget about the gap for now, and think about the other clubs trying to bridge the gap with us, when we finally have the cattle in 2-3 years time.

By the way did you hear we had some draft penalties...mmmmmmm maybe the others didn't.
Draft good players= better team
Draft smelly players= team on the nose
2004+2005 draft good young kids= Wait untill they arn't so young

The response for people who can't accept reality. But really, last weeks performance against Stinkilda is a worrying trend, especially when 4 of their top players are out..We are now fair square in the draft and getting spoons and we can't bridge the gap against the biggest chokers in modern footy history...What does that make us, gaggers?

Those players who your speaking of are still developing, most have only played a few games at AFL level. Wait till they develop, and we're able to get rid of those players who won't get a game at any other club, becuase at the moment, we've got to many.

Mate it seems like you're the one who can't accept reality. Yes, we are quite tragic right now. We'll be bottom four again. I mean I don't like that either. But you can't expect the team to turn around their fortunes just like that. It's not that easy. So why don't you start focusing on the positives? And YES, there are some!

We'll have some decent picks at the end of this season, our young players will get better and more experienced and we'll slowly drag ourselves out of this quagmire.

And as for the Saints, having 4 of their players out doesn't mean sh1t. They're crapping depth everywhere. And they still had Riewoldt, Ball, Gehrig, Milne, Del Santo etc.

So if you haven't got anything constructive to say :D:D:D:D off

As an example, think about how long it took Simpson to develop into an AFL player. Whilst he is still developing, he has improved so much in the last 12 months.

The kids will take 3-4 years to develop into good solid players at AFL level. Therefore, we have to patient with guys like Walker, Bentick, Carrazzo, Betts, Murphy, Hartlett, Bower, Russell, Kennedy and so on.

Thanks for some wisedom, lets try to remember that these guys havn't had their 21st birthday parties yet and are about to go for their drivers license soon. They are boys. I remember seeing Ben Cousins first game and thinking this kid is going to be a star, he then went back into the reserves for a year or two. About (SIX)years later he won the brownlow.
