Bring back the famous old butchers coat.

Goal Umpires should always be wearing white and the old butcher’s coat. Not these multi-coloured rainbow shirts they now wear.

For Christ's sake they look like they are participating in a gay pride march.

The butchers coat is a symbol of the game, ask any overseas man about the game and the first thing they mention is "what's the deal with the coats".

They are renowned as being a symbol of the game.

How awesome was it when the umpires used to don the old butchers coats and be all dramatic with the goals, it brought so much character to the game.

Now there gone.

So come on people voice your opinions on the removal of this great icon of footy.

Their was a goal umpie in the eighties who used to give the flags a bit of a twirl in his hands afte rhe rolled them up b4 he put them back in their hole on the back of the goal posts. He was pretty proud of himself when he did it too.

Yeah the coat.
Usaually lying around in the teams kit bag. Hadnt been washed for about 5 years . Some one comes up and says " you wanna be goal umpire today' so you go "er not really" but some one has to do it.
Its still damp from last weeks game, a wrinkled up book, little stub of a pencil and chewy wrappers in the big pockets. When you put in on and grab the flags you get transformed into someone with a licence for drama.

Yeah bring back the coat. Think of all those guys in suburban and country football who are missing out wearing it everyweekend

It's sadly actually an indication to incoming collapse of society.

Happened to the Romans, the Greeks, the Persians, the Assyrian Empire...all went soft.
Once toxic masculinity mindset becomes a thing, and true manliness disappears in society, it inevitably collapses and history repeats itself.

I for one blame the removal of Butchers coats in footy as a clear indicator of the beggening of the decline of the modern western civilization.
