This is my first trip to the Gabba.
What's a good area to sit at and is it ok to buy tickets at the ground.
What's a good pub to attend beforehand.

I waa up there earlier this year for the game Vs GCS. The pineapple hotel out that way was OK and full of footy patrons.

I would buy tickets before hand as you can get great tickets early on, you will be able to rock up and do well anyway so it isn't a requirement.

If you have your footy ticket, there are free buses from the city centre, you can get a full list by googling it, but they are everywhere, it's a fantastic service!! This means you can drink at any good pub in the city and then bus it over ;)

Enjoy the trip! Don't get stabbed in the valley!

Thanks for the advice, I'll steer clear of the V.

A few good pubds near the Gabba, The Chalk goes alright and is a two minute walk away.

Won't be any dramas getting a ticket at the gate this week. There is normally an opposition supporters bay around section 30 or 31, which is lower tier on about the 50. As well as the opposition cheer squad behind the eastern goals. Ring the club, they might be able to tee you up something near other North supporters. I will be standing behind about section 36 on the wing.

Just remember to be on your best behaviour, Gabba security are over-zealous shit stains.

Thanks, I'm always in a cool analytical mood during games, it's my other half I worry about. Time for us to turn the tables and give the Kimbas a hiding.

Best place to plank in the CBD is near Myer. If you wanted to plank closer to the ground, there's a kebab caravan at the BP on Grosvenor Pde which is surrounded by small palm trees.:thumbsu:

This is a bit of a bugbear of mine. Generally try to go to an interstate game a year if I can but there is rarely any information available re how to sit with other NM fans.

If it wasn't for your post Arden I would have had no idea that the place to sit was 30/31. Not that you get the option on Ticketmaster to choose an opposition supporter area anyway.

At this stage I'm looking at sitting in the Gabba Members as part of MCC reciprocal arrangements. They are stinging me $44 for the trouble too. Not the cheapest ground to watch footy at from what I can gather.

This conjures memories of seeing Billy the Barmy Army trumpeter being marched out of the stadium by Gabba security.

Don't lick these.....

Some good advice round here, including the lick a toad.

I'm heading up for my Gabba debut... somewhere around section 20 which looks alright.

Thinking about planking the interchange line, see if I can mess with the stewards head.

Try planking the interchange steward himself. Win.

For a drink and a meal before the game you can't beat the Pineapple hotel, a 10 minute walk from the stadium and a footy friendly place.

the best pub before the game is the german club across the road from the gabba. Great selection of beers and wurst - also great after the game.

If possible, stop in at The Brekky Creek Hotel which is halfway between the city and airport. Its a great pub and you can still get xxxx served out of wooden barrels which is a great story in itself (you will read about it when there). Big open beer garden and great steaks

Careful with parking. There is a 2k radius (15 min only) exclusion zone during match days on the streets. It's not signed and they go out in force.

Other then that, its a great ground to watch the footy at. Crowds are good if on the quiet side, only average seats are behind the goals up the back. (The 2nd tier blocks your view somewhat).

Perfect, I'm staying in West End, so a 2k walk will be good. Anyone know what time the ground opens for buying tickets?

If you pre purchase the ticket it can be used for public transport to the ground.
