Game Day Brisbane Lions v Adelaide Crows. The dream is still alive

Crows played terribly, umpiring was poor and the Lions still lost on their home ground.
What I'm saying is they very nearly pinched it regardless of umpiring. Their % isnt much worse than ours

Fagan has taught them to snipe like Hawthorn
My comment at the game was that BRISBANE were playing very unsociable football just like hawthorn. They were sniping, constantly scragging and punching players behind the play. The amount of free kicks not paid to us when they should have been were astronomical! I was ******* ropable and I’ve got no voice to prove it! Umpires had to be escorted off.

Re the umps ( and yes they were terrible) I think it's easy to go down the the "anti interstate " path, though i have seen enough games through out the year to see it is anti every team barring Collingwood / Richmond, pencil in those two for the GF .

Make no mistake about it, the AFL's biggest sponsors " bookmakers " are running the show these days ( no integrity issues there)

Include what appears, definite directives to go easy on Qld teams due to the declining interest in the game up north.

The long term effects will be a disinterest in AFL across the board and I for one, look forward to the day when a breakaway league ala Packers One Day Cricket is formed

Standard of umpiring is getting worse as the year has gone on. How Doedee and Murph didn’t get frees is mind boggling. Club needs to send a please explain to the AFL. Works for the Hawks.
I can sort of understand how the umps might have missed a head contact on Murphy when he was sandwiched between 2 Lions players. BUT, there's this new frontal rule in recent months, and that was as blatant a decision when the Lions player running back and CLEARLY bumping Murphy front on.
WHAT THE * umpire???

I came on here just to read the comments. Not sure how I feel about our performance but we did hold on and we did it with two men short and lets be fair and acknowledge we did it against a varsely improved Lions.

What I wasn't expecting to see were comments about sniping despite myself thinking that the Lions had a few players who were pushing and shoving and face pressing for no apparent reason and I starting thinking that they have learnt something from Hodgy. Two in particular were Rhys Mathieson and Nick Robertson. Funny how we pick up on certain things without prompting from others.

I don't think I'll bother watching the finals series. The AFL can go eat a bag of asbestos AFAIC.

Went up to the gabba tonight as I have a week off work. Stressful night. Thought they were gunna give us a hiding midway through the 2nd but we came back strong. Jenkins was massive. Did a lot right. I didn't hear the siren at the end and then all of a sudden heard the song come on.

oh and who knew it actually gets cold in Queensland. I was freezing all night

That was so weird. It was at 28 minutes too so seemed early.

The holding the ball we got near final siren in front of goal was a joke. The Brisbane player took ball and fell, he didn’t dive and didn’t have an op to dispose. These are the calls I hate. The talia below the knees free was atrocious, opposition players can now run into peoples heads and get a free.

Yes. One of the new developing skills for players is the soccer fall-over-a-body trick. A fall into the tackle dive variation.

It wasn't Beams that was at fault, it was the 2nd Brisbane player coming in to hold the ball in the contest that caused the free.
