Maybe it was your players fear of Brion the lion.

So I missed this yesterday..do the players run in to its arse and out through its mouth?

Ebert looked fine up until this week. That corky and head knock obviously still not quite right.

Is too much being left being left to too few? Remembering the best football we have played, with the best team functionality, was without Wines and Gray. It was like everyone stepped up in their absence. Gray is back, wines still out, but we haven't recaptured that at all, nor did we have it beforehand.

Scary , but our non performers

White
Westhoff
OShea
Krak second half
Mitchell
Pittard
Jonas
Impey
Schulz
Lobbe
Boak

Finished school at just the right time last year! Lucky I don't have to cop shit for losses like that for 5 days straight anymore!
Yeah, who says there's no upside to unemployment?

I dont think we aren't fit, but im starting to think they've got the fitness program wrong and its actually gone the other way where the players are now fatigued and incapable of running out games. I know we put the pre season up a notch again in terms of miles in the legs, maybe they've over done it.

Hear hear.

Something has gone terribly wrong in the motorcade.

I just can't abide by the prevailing sentiment that the players are actively deciding to run up and down on the spot during the first quarter if they're truly just as capable as ever.

It doesn't make sense.

If you're a heavyweight boxer with concrete hands you don't suddenly develop a mindset where you just decide to go pillowfist. You can however be ill-prepared for whatever reason and run out of juice early if you don't get an easy kill.

Yes losses to WCE and Brisbane hurt, they hurt BAD, but that's football. Ken says if your off just 2-3% your done in todays day and age.

I'm sick of the excuses I am hearing though, including:
- Fitness
- Voss
- Selection
- Tough draw
- Showdown let down
- Underdone players etc etc

This is not what is causing these performances. It seems people are not giving enough attention to the psychological status of our players. Their heads have been blown up exponentially by the media, and by us. We finished 5th last year, not top four, and the year before that we didn't make the prelim! We had a decent finals run but THAT's IT! We've achieved nothing! We need to work harder than ever now, the job isn't going to do itself.

Each and every one of our players has the talent and skills (bar potentially K. Mitchell who is just a work horse but nothing else). We need a bit of true confidence none of this media confidence garbage. The season is not over yet, time to play some tough, aggressive a downright dirty Port Adelaide football (none of this globetrotters sexy football nonsense).

People in this forum and on other social media saying they are not going to turn up this weekend because of our recent performances should be ashamed. We need each and everyone of us there and any extras you can find for that matter, so we can make the boys aware that we'll be there through this rutt with them, and that we trust them (heck if we can't trust them, how are they going to trust themselves) and turn the Adl Oval back into the Fierce Cauldron it ought to be!

BTW Port Players if you guys do read this forum at all, and take anything from reading this forum, just read this next paragraph and really think about it when you pull on that jumper vs. the Tigers and every other game you play for Port Adelaide,

"We, the Players and Management of the Port Adelaide Football Club, accept the heritage which players and administrators have passed down to us; in doing so we do not intend to rest in idleness but shall strive with all our power to further this Club's unexcelled achievements. To do this we believe there is a great merit and noble achievements in winning a premiership.

To be successful, each of us must be active, aggressive and devoted to this cause. We agree that success is well within our reach and have confidence that each member of both the team and management will suffer personal sacrifices for the common end.

Also we know that, should we after striving to our utmost and giving our everything, still not be successful, our efforts will become a further part of this Club's enviable tradition.

Finally, we concede that there can be honour in defeat, but to each of us, honourable defeat of our Club and guernsey can only come after human endeavour on the playing field is completely exhausted."

Nice post.

Great post. Am with you on this sick of these excuses. Once you get on the field the excuses don't fly. No excuse for not working hard, tackling, manning up, the basics required before worrying about winning the game or playing our brand of football.

Thankfully no one at uni knows who I support.

Yeah, who says there's no upside to unemployment?

Depends on where you go after school. At a place you've been at for years and with 200 other blokes, you'll always cop shit for football results. But not every workplace will be like that and not everybody at Uni or Tafe or wherever will instantly know who you support.

It does make sense if the runners are running more or if they run similar numbers but get to them earlier in a quarter and don't have much left in the tank towards the end of the quarters/game.

You're in Adelaide, at least you're not in the minority. You'd feel pretty alone in Melbourne
Are you saying everybody knows everybody in Melbourne?
