I'm not against drafting him by any means.

But would Brogan bring the leadership that say, a Lade would bring?

Ackland and Brogan...they're poles apart in terms of ability (obviously Brogan and much, much, MUCH better player) but the way he is in terms of attitude on the field...he does remind me of Ackland sometimes?

I think we need a level head, a wise and experienced guy who can pass on knowledge to our younger rucks. I may be wrong, but Brogan just doesn't strike me as that type?

he gets a lot of the ball and wins a lot of contested ball. he is a tough, strong competitor and we would finally not get killed in the hitouts week in week out.
He's a hack. A 30yo hack. A 30yo hack that wants a three year contract.

Chris Bryan will be out of contract - why don't we make a play for him as well?

No to Grogan & No to Bryant

It would only be fair, since we did make a mistake in getting rid of him in the first place.

Robert Warnock is going to be much better value long-to medium-term than Brogan. We're also talking about a guy who punched a fan at the airport, not exactly stable behaviour.

Jason Laycock is going to be on the market and might be worth our second round pick, most knock his application but it's hard to judge when he gets only 50% game time. Give him the number one position and maybe it lights a fire under him.

I would even see what you could throw at North to get David Hale. They need young mids so you might be able to give them our second round pick, Andrew Carrazzo and maybe Adam Bentick. Demand for Ruckman is high though, so maybe that's ambitious.

You'd have to provide a trade option that is acceptable to Port Adelaide, because the Pre-Season Draft wont get the job done for you this year.

Now remember, this is my club, Port Adelaide, and Mark Williams has a very long memory, does the name Nick Stevens ring any bells?

There is no hope in hell that Port would be willing to even be fair with you guys, let alone letting you get one of our players on the cheap.

Nope, if Carlton want to trade with Port, all the dice are loaded in our favour this year, so you'd have to ante up, big time!

Best of luck on Satdee arvo guys

I remember that vain Collingwood weren't being amenable at the trade party, so Williams in a fit of frumpy pride, refused to deal with them. He went in the PSD, and Carlton just happened to be the lucky third party.

Why would Williams have a problem trading with Carlton?

There is a whole lot more background than that, and I'm sure your mods would find a re-hash pretty damn boring, so I wont go there.

Suffice to say, Port hold the cards this year.

Tell me, what does Nick Stevens have anything to do with this. The FACT is, that Nick wanted to go to Collingwood, and the 2 clubs involved couldn't do a trade, so Nick came to us in the PSD. It had nothing to do with us.

And a trade loaded in your favour - come on now!

Clubs are much smarter that what they were even 5 years ago, and Carlton won't "sell the farm" to get a 30yo ruckman into the club with maybe 3 years left in him.

To say Brogan is a "MUST" is a gross overstatement, and quite frankly, a ridiculous statement.

The main points to consider here are:

1) His age. He's going to be 30 when he comes over, with only a few years left in him.

2) He won't come cheap. We'll have to give a fair bit up for him. They would no doubt want a 2nd rounder, and we would be absolutely crazy to do that.

If we had any sort of chance of getting him in the preseason draft without throwing ridiculous sums of money at him, I would be all for it. But the fact is that there will be a fair few clubs picking before us, and so we'd be unlikely to get him there. That means we'll need to trade for him.

Don't compare him to Steven King as there is absolutely no way known that Port would give Brogan up for a pick later than a 3rd rounder, let alone a 5th rounder.

Not going to happen.

Nick Stevens will have plenty to do with Port's attitude to trading with Carlton, I'm a Port member, this is a fact!

Fine, if it's not a trade that we like, we wont trade him to you

Pretty simple, hey!

If Carlton wants Brogan, they'll have to come to the table bearing gifts, if they don't want him, great, we'll keep him.

You are a tool mate, with NFI. The last time we had anything to do with Port Adelaide was the Barnaby French deal. (Oh, and dont mention Jordan Russell- we did you a favour)

I'd be very happy to have him here. I certainly rate the guy. Have him here for a couple of years while Kreuzer and Hampson develop.
