just some bits and bobs out of Port... Peter Rohde told the club's website the Power is unlikely to trade off any second round picks - 30, 31 --


So this means the best we can hope for is the compensation port receive for Jacobs which looks like pick 38 or 39. I would rather keep broughton.

Port has already ruled Broughton out. Too expensive.

I think Broughton would be the best small defender at Gold Coast, he would certainly make up a little of the way towards Harbrow and Krakouer not setting the world on fire. I don't want Greg to go, so it would take their first pick to get him if I was in control.

If Greg is offered a three year, $375,000pa deal and GCS are happy to give up pick#13 for him, then I'm happy.

Yeah hes never done the job on the three you had highlighted, they dont really fit his repotoire IMO.
 
Milne has carved us up almost every game Broughton has played (not that Broughton has ever played on him) even going back to 2010 when we were relatively injury free and playing good football.

2010 I think.

Except Milne. Broughton played on him at Subi oval last year. Milne's only goal was from a dodgy free kick if I recall correctly.

Milne kicked 5 against Freo in 2010 when Broughton played in the St Kilda game.
Rioli kicked 3 goals against Freo in round 21 and did his hamstring during the second quarter in the final

Betts is the only one of those three you could say Broughton stopped, though I'm not even sure Broughton was his opponent that game.

Sorry I edited my post. The Milne game was at Subi last year.

That AFL offseason facebook page says that Tayte Pears has been floated as a potential straight swap for Broughton. God I hope not, Broughts is twice the player.

We should keep him.
 
FFS, Pears would be playing WAFL with SCOS, Faulks, Jack Anthony etc. Not equal by any stretch.

I don't mind Pears but there's no room for another key defense player in our side, Nobody else will get games over McPharlin & Dawson. We could trade for Lake and he'd be playing for Peel I reckon..
 
Pears is a much better player than silvagni faulks and Anthony, but straight swap for broughton is not a great deal. I like pears though

Yea would need to be more than a straight swap, Pears is under rated by a few people on this board and is definately ahead of Silvagni, Faulks and Anthony. Maybe Pears and a 3rd round might get it done but on his own would be no dice.

Yeah, that pretty much covers it. I don't mind pears, he's OK, I'd put him ahead of those players listed, but he's so superfluous to our needs and a straight swap fro Broughton wouldn't be a good deal - and not likely anyway.

I'd say Broughton is going nowhere so this is all back to fantasy talk anyway, but even in fantasy land it's "No Deal!".

As PapaJ said, nothing against Pears and I rate him, but trading for him would be like trading for an established ruckman - pointless.

McPharlin is 30...think beyond next week. Luke has 2 years at most. Pears would fill that gap nicely, allowing us to also draft a KPB who would be ready for a back up position in a couple of years when he's got some bulk.
We could off load Silvagni or Faulks too

I'd take Pears if Greg wanted to go, maybe with a swap of second rounders in our favour

We will have injuries. Tayte Pears can play KPB or third tall. Dawson and McPharlin missed 8 or so games between them. Smokey missed 3 or four.

The fact still remains they are best 22 when fit and Pears would know that although he will get opportunities he'll still be a depth player.
