What did people think?

The comments I read here and from what people said to me it seems I missed a horrible event.

Did anyone think differently or was this another example of G Mc ****ing shit up yet again

I hoped that they would add the "Golden Fist" to the proceedings as an inaugural award for the best defender.

For an institution that promotes equality I still get bemused by the “what are the Sheila’s wearing pre event” . To me this objectifies women and not for the positive qualities they may bring to the evening. Talk to them and find out their thoughts but dont discuss how they look.

Tacky!

Do you think people really want to hear their views about the game or who they think will win? Most of them would rather talk about what dress they're wearing anyway.

The majority only go because they get a nice dress for free on the proviso that they give the designer and stylist a plug, they don't know or care about the footy.

MOTY and GOTY presented a man/woman team, there's your equality.

From a footy fan standpoint, the Brownlow Medal coverage was excellent this year. Very slick. Maybe a bit lacking in terms of cameras lingering on the WAGS & cleavage. Didn't notice any piissed players skolling drinks & playing up to the cameras either. Pretty tame in that regard.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Hamish McLachlan was very good as the host (way better than cringey Bruce in previous years)
Great interview with Fyfe at the end. Fyfe spoke very well.

Daisy Pearce was good as usual in a supporting role. Interviews with the leading contenders were kept pretty short.

Brian Taylor did a pretty good "roaming BT" afterwards

Nice homage paid to retiring players and also the football identities who passed away

Round by round highlights packages were okay. Goal of the Year and Mark of the Year were predictably won by Betts and Ryan

Gill read through the votes clearly & quickly and didn't overdo the dramatic pauses.

The whole thing was paced pretty well. Didn't drag out endlessly like in previous years. None of the usual filler bullshiit. Channel 7 let the vote count itself take centre stage and it was a good one this year. All the superstars polled a ton of votes and made things quite exciting until Fyfe gapped everyone with a couple of rounds to go.

Probaly not but that does not justify putting the girls on show.

I personally think the night is about the best footballer of the season , not who has the best looking or best dressed lady .

I agree but it's easy enough to avoid watching the red carpet part of the show where all the WAGS get a run, I only tune in when they start the count.

It was fine.

It's the first year I can remember where it didn't have that feeling of a 90 minute event being stretched into 3 hours of pointless tv, they just got straight to it and churned through the rounds.

The lack of bruce creeping on players, and less pointless interviews meant it flowed much better.

The count needed zooper votes after the bye rd. But it was good to see Brian roaming after it finished. Favourite part was uncle steve pulling Hamish off the stage because he was being too creepy. Steve looks like a powerful man and should swap roles with Gil

Definitely a lot more concise than previous years (without feeling rushed), was excellent and a big tick to whomever decided that needed to be made happen.

Those women love getting dressed up and discussing fashion, what a stupid thought.

At least they didn't have the turntable. Now that was tacky.
