Would have been good if it wasn't from the highly thought of Hamish and the good awful Daisy being the main hosts

Trying to get AFLW players on the screen as much as possible was pretty annoying too

Two hour Sportsbet ad interrupted by vote counting
I've posted this but it sums the Brownlow up perfectly. Gideon Haigh in The Vincibles.

"The Brownlow Medal is the Australian Football League's annual award to its best player. The votes are read aloud by the league's CEO, rather like a bingo call, but delivered with the gravity of a declaration of war. The audience is composed of footballers, genial thugs in tuxedos trying to look both coy and sober; alongside them lounge anorexic bottle-blondes. No night on television is more buttock-clenchingly embarrassing: imagine a music-free Eurovision Song Contest staged before several hundred nightclub bouncers."

Normally kids piss me off but Isla was a star out there

She literally did the best job interviewing players ive seen so far this year. Id literally have seen that, removed Hamish and put her on to interview Fyfe instead. Atleast she has the guts to ask the tough questions

Was very good, apart from Daisy Pearce being way out of her depth, finding forced ways to include AFLW ‘stars’, and not showing more contenders for goal and mark of the year.

I just wonder too, if a no name player from the Gold Coast kicks a goal from the boundary the same as Betts, does it win goal of the year? I think not.

Also, Ryan’s chest mark should not have made top three.

I still think they should start the count earlier at 7:30. That being said, there were far less shitty segments so it was better that it didn't drag out.

People will complain about anything. It's a Brownlow count. Not an iMax thriller. I enjoyed it, It's just a relaxing evening in front of the TV where I can zone out and do other things while it plays.

But yeah, I second the Daisy Pearce thing. I almost tighten up when she speaks, waiting for her to make a mistake. She's just not cut out for this, she just comes off as nervous, jittery, uninteresting, fake, every time she speaks. There are way better female presenters literally everywhere on Fox Footy. Honestly, who is she screwing to keep getting these gigs?

It was way better than it's been in the last several years. I hate saying this but Hamish did a good job and was WAY better than Bruce.

Except when doing interviews was creepy lol

I'd agree that Ryan's winning mark was not the most spectacular grab of the year. Iirc Ryan's run to the contest started from well outside 50. The ground Ryan covered to actually get to the contest & then take a fantastic mark made his mark a worthy winner imo.
I'm neither a fan or hater of BT but he picked up on Ryan's intent in the call. As a neutral supporter watching the game on telly, I thought it was the best piece of calling for the year.

For an institution that promotes equality I still get bemused by the “what are the Sheila’s wearing pre event” . To me this objectifies women and not for the positive qualities they may bring to the evening. Talk to them and find out their thoughts but dont discuss how they look.

Tacky!

Pretty sure the red carpet segment is for other women, most blokes don't give a shit about fashion and want it over with ASAP. Is it sexist when it's women objectifying women?

Agree with the sentiments in this thread, while I won't say it was "good" this year it was significantly less shit than previous iterations.
