The best result was Knighter's 18 votes in 1998. The closest though was Justin Charles in 1997 getting within 4 votes. Thank God though that he didn't win it. Would have been badly tainted.

Two interesting things here.

One, looking forward to a fit version of Cogs, reckon he might go close over the next couple of years.

Two, just how well Richo has performed for us in the Brownlow. If he does play up the ground, and gets the amount of possession he is capable of , he must be a chance.

Richo is good for 10-15 votes a year but it's hard to see him dominating enough games to win a brownlow.

Coughlan seems to have the type of game umpires appreciate so you'd think if he gets back to full fitness he'll be in there with a chance.

Interesting that we didn't have anyone polling more than 11 votes in 2001 despite finishing 4th.

IIRC Richo was leading the Brownlow when he went down at the SCG in 95 I think after about 7 rounds.

1. Umpires should stick to umpiring, not adjudicating who was best afield
2. Consistency isn't rewarded by Brownlow votes

If my memory serves me correstly , he started favourite in 1995 , how many votes did he poll ?

Interesting stat that in 2001 we finished 3 rd and our highest vote getter was Cameron with only 11 ? What do you read into that ? It has got me absolutely stuffed how we did that , that year. I suspect the bulk of the competition had a sabatical that year .

Yeah Campbell was favourite in 1995 and ended up getting 10 votes roflmao. Knights ended up getting 16 that year.

I think Knights is easily our biggest vote getter of the past 20 odd years.

I added up a few players' tallies and came up with this (may have miscounted a bit):

Knights: 114
Richo: 89
Raines: 77 (including his years with other clubs)
Campbell: 68
Rioli: 61
Lee: 58
Weightman: 54

The best player on that list is probably Weightman and he has the least votes, so there you go.

The best player on that list is probably Weightman and he has the least votes, so there you go.

Agreed and LOL , he was a dirty little pr.ck and the umpies new it , pretty sure he had a big gob as well .

Best one was Raines in 1980 , pretty sure he went in favourite that year but didn`t get a vote , he had the leagues best haircut and all , LOL , i made mum get my hair cut like his , she still hangs schit on me about that to this day

Our club should stick to losing money, and should restrict B&F voting to the little league teams.

Just another example IMO how our club ovverates its list and players.
