So remember like two and a half years ago when El_Scorcho was posting incessantly about how we shouldn't have dropped Butcher for the easy confidence boosting game against Brisbane and everyone was all 'lol butcher is shit'?

Yeah.

Poor El_Scorcho is driving around looking for a 7-11 that's open because he ran out of tissues by half time. :p

Yeah.
Thought this all day. 2 and a half years too late. Surely at this point the only person who isnt ruing that decision is Sam Gray.

Came up to Brisbane to see it live! Just to clarify, the tissues were not for tears of joy

Yeah.
Yep.
Round 4 2014 was the big omission.

Butcher does some weird shit that you normally don't see at this level but at the end of the day his pros outweigh his cons. Love to see him do something like that against a defense that is of AFL standard. Great signs tonight though.

Yeah.

So remember like this week when some were posting incessantly about how we shouldn't have dropped Schulz and left Butcher in the side by himself because it wasn't fair to John to have to play against Brisbane the way Dixon has had to play all year and only a few educated people were saying that it was ****ing Brisbane and he doesn't need his hand held? Because he's meant to be playing Dixon's role in the side since Charlie is out of the team?

Yeah.

The ones he did crash he was so late and nearly killed his teammates. Can't read the flight of the ball, is an average mark, can't kick. What can he actually do
Did you watch tonights game? 3votes J.Butcher
Typical fairweather supporter will probably change your name to butcher4pm after tonight LOL.

Yeah.

I reckon it is even less the fact Brisbane was coming up, more the fact he was an easy scapegoat for the loss vs Norf. Even stranger is that I remember him modeling the 2004 guernsey in the week leading up to that Brisbane game.

Watching Butcher play is like watching your kids play sport. You will them to every contest and pray they do something good. You strain to find the best out of even their slightest touch of the ball. There is only other player I have ever wanted to succeed as much as Butcher and it is the man whose number John now wears - the great S Hodges.

John, please make tonight the rebirth of your career and the start of a champion 6-8 years in our Guernsey. He has the necessary attributes to do it. More than improving his goal kicking, he needs to just keep up his workrate like he did tonight and the footy will come his way.
