Buying a new bat on ebay

I'm looking to get myself a new bat for this season. I had a mate who got one from India and it was quite a decent bat for the price, however the store he got it from is gone and a few of the others on there look pretty dodgy. Just wondering if anyone here has done similar and had success?

It's always tough to seperate the fake from the real on eBay. I'd rather buy from one of the many websites.

What's your price range, what brands are you looking at?

The best bat I ever had I got off E-Bay, it was/is a GM Purist LE and it was sensational - but it did not come from India.

Tread warily most are Kashmir Willow in which the stickers are worth more than the wood. English Willow nurtured in India is Kashmir - do not be fooled.

Having said that some can go like Rockets - for a time.

Don't pay too much.

If you're in melbourne, i'd check out sportsmart's pre season warehouse sale.
It is last season's stock, but you get really good value.

I bought a GM cannon LE there last year for 220, having no idea of it's retail value (really liked the feel, its an amazing bat) and i went home and googled it and I found it was around 460 bucks for the updated model.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I'll steer clear of anything from India. Hopefully I'll see a good bargain somewhere, that warehouse thing looks pretty promising.

I think the advice was more stay clear of eBay. Many Asian sellers have websites which offer much higher quality offerings.

made my highest score with a rbk bat i purchased off ebay

it was over 3 pounds, that was the only issue. but it was a beautiful bat when you got bat on ball (emphasis on when)

Was going to get a new stick from rebel today, but my God their range is shocking. The one I went to had only Gray Nicholls, Kooka's and Puma's. Was looking to get one of the older style GM's and this looks like the best place to get that.

Rebel near my place were terrible , popped in for a quick look last year . Quite a few of there lower end bats almost looked like they had been re-badged as higher end stuff . Wood quality in particular was ordinary at best for bats they were asking $500 plus for . I would avoid them at all costs

I went direct through CA last time after one of my teamates in the UK recommended them. You will have to wait 3-4 weeks and pay shipping, but they will send you what you want and its authentic.

Always a danger getting anything sight unseen

Rebel sport are shocking

I went to rebel, jim kidd and the cricket n footy shop.. Didn't like anything in my price range

Found some wholesale bloke selling gear outtve a small commercial building... Picked up a Spartan 4000 for $160 (think it was Michael Clarke's last bat), bat is incredible and that price was insane

I wouldn't eBay a bat.. I've had 2 mates buy bats from India online and they both ended up with split toes

Was looking at Ebay for a bat recently to compare prices, found a good bargain until I read it more closely and it was just a bat from India with stickers attached

Had 1 good purchase which was someone getting rid of some old stock which was based in Australia, but would be very wary of Indian sellers

That store above says location Melbourne but delivery from outside AU?

Sportsmart are good for deals if you can wait for the right one to come along, otherwise I use GCCC or Cricket Warehouse for most things, never Rebel as their range is shocking

Looks legit, nice bat.. GM my second favourite brand

Local store in Canberra is mint. Has every range of bat and the most expensive one is $580. You can get a custom made, players edition for $500. Was shocked to hear when he got the latest GM range and said he was under half price of the top range compared to Greg Chappell Cricket which is around the corner. Wish I knew that before I got one the season before
