I liked Kingy the player. I don't like Kingy in the media. I don't know if the players like Kingy. I'm pretty sure that Kingy likes Kingy. And I definitely do not like the idea of Kingy the coach

Lol at Kingy liking Kingy.

We have the players, they ar ejust being held back at this point in time.

The tough calls have to be made and i think Wells, Petrie and Firrito are the first in line to get the tap on the shoulder. Grima is already gone.

I would also think strongly about trading an inside mid for some outside run

Majority may rule in most places, but one place where it means jackshite would be here, or we would have traded our first two live picks for Dal.
That's just bullshit. The vast majority did not want to trade for Dal.

Would offer Simpson astronomical money.

Would love to have Simmo back at the club.

Or surely Clarkson will need a new challenge after this season. What is left for him to achieve at Hawthorn??

I'm reminded of this quote when I think of NMFC 2015. "I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream; that's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight razor... and surviving."

At the moment we're just surviving...

The horror... the horror...

Uber mate!

Ha. Yes.

Considering Scott has been given the 'Rolls-Royce' treatment by the club with such remarkable results (not) during his tenure, I'd organize nothing less to be suitable for his departure.

We have versatile players.

They are just locked into singular roles.

Hand on heart believe this is not a cattle problem.

We do not play a style that meshs with the balance of the list.

Agree. Not saying with changes the cattle will be enough to take us to a Grand Final, but not convinced that we use what we have well enough to know either way. My gut is that there is enough there that we need to utilise better. I certainly think there is plenty of talent there and plenty to work with. We had less to work with when Brad Scott took over IMHO.

How do we know if our cattle is any good if the current structure doesn't support their strengths?????

We need to flush the boys club out before we think about bringing back any past North player, we have too many backslappers who are okay with being mediocre at the club.

We are sooo mentally fragile. Name the last mentally fragile team that won a premiership? I bet you can't!

Therefore the cattle doesn't matter, the mix of players doesn't matter, the amount of talent doesn't matter, the game plans don't matter.

Until they sort their shit out inside their collective heads, nothing will change.

And nothing will change under Brad Scott. He's had 6 years to come up with a solution for this and he still has no answers.

Agreed. But mediocrity is one word you definitely can't use about Simmo, he's a class act.

That he is, but a coach is only as good as the team and support structure. If he is hamstrung by assistants, recruitment, development then he could be Barassi-type coach and it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Brad has to either step up and make sure the other parts of his team are functioning adequately otherwise he is going to be the easiest target for replacement.

Very well summed up.

And essentially off topic, but these days a player would get 6 weeks for what Kingy did to Craig O'Brien in the 96 GF. Was a bit of a turning point, too.

Assuming that hiring an ex-North player as coach constitutes a 'boy's club' is incredibly naïve.

Base recruitment decisions on the candidate's merits not some arbitrary rules.

I hardly think getting Alistair Clarkson to coach the NMFC (oh if only we knew in 2002..) would exacerbate our current boys club element.
