This. I actually wouldn't of cared if we lost. More heat on Brad Scott. The quicker he's gone, the better. Blind supporters gunna hate.
He will coach until well into 2015. We are not going to pay him out. So maybe get behind him. What was so wrong with the weekends game? The young dogs were always going to tire coming back from the heat of WA. Keep it tight and then blow them away late.

I don't care how we win - would never hope they lose.

So you seriously think that that game plan will win us a Premiership? It could barely beat the Dogs!!!

The greatest player of all time exploded. Plus all the others that were coming into their 5th year.
So, just an amazing coincidence that all of the players and the game plan improved unbelievably with the change of coach?!?

He got the massive $$$ to go to the Blues and without a Carey was putrid.
Yup. Noone is arguing that a good coach can make a bad team good - but there is no question that a bad coach can make a good team bad!

It was prettier than a lot of the flag fav's wins. Freo bet the Dogs by 28 points last year - maybe they should have panicked as well.

We have to learn to shut a team down for a sustained period of time. If we go defensive and win ugly I am very happy. It is much better than losing pretty.

No it wasn't.

It was a very poor standard game. Any decent team would have easily accounted for both teams, just like Bombers and WCE did the week before.

We need to improve no matter how many posters try to spin it like we took some great leap forward on Sunday with an improved game plan. The skill level was unacceptable, the form of some of our senior players was terrible, and our forward line for plenty of the game was completely out of position.

If it were not for Harvey taking over the game and Levi having an impact, it is quite possible we could have dropped it.

As for prefering winning ugly over losing pretty, of course, I would too. But we were playing the Dogs for heavens sake, so until we 'win ugly' against a team of merit it is a completely baseless assertion.

Is a win ugly this Sunday enough? It is round 2 and we have not played very well and sit 1-1. The sky is not falling.

The supporters hoping we lose are not great supporters.

If we win this week then it will confirm the side is improving - we need to, and I am concinced our form of last two weeks will not get near Port Adel.

Who is hoping we lose? Bizarre comment. The sky is not falling, but we have been playing well below expectations from the first game of pre-season until now. That has to change, and change fast.

To play a full season and not have a flat spot is very rare. Ours is now. I think form can turn really quickly. 2012 - we won 10 of our last 12. That was only matched by one other team - the Hawks. I am not concerned.

To get rid of Scott:
Stevo75 " I actually wouldn't of cared if we lost."

Fair point, I didn't read back through the thread just your post which I commented on.

I clearly have more concerns than you, but it is still very early - lets revisit about round 6 or so, will know a lot more by then which way we are headed.

Split the next 4 two and two and we will be fine. We need 10 wins min by round 19.
7 wins from - Suns h, Bris h, Cats a, WCE a, Tigers h, Crows a, Dees a, Bris a, Hawks h, Saints h, Blues a, Cats h.

Its not that bad if we start to improve.

agreed Wild Bill although given the way we are playing right now there is no way we will win 2 of our next 4. It is clearly the toughest 4 weeks of the season for us. A lot of those games highlighted as 7 wins through 10 games to me seem 50/50 at best at the minute

Last time I checked, Freo didn't win the flag last year. So, like I said, do you really think that game plan can win us a Premiership?

In 2012, we only won 4 games in the first half of the season! Since it is almost impossible to win a Premiership from positions 7 & 8, we were effectively out of serious Premiership contention by Round 11 of that year. So, whilst I agree that it is only Round 2, I don't think quoting what happened in 2012 gives any comfort - in fact, it really only increase concern as at this stage it would appear we are heading in the same direction again.

Provided our seniors consistently put in effort and juniours make progressive gains towards there physicality and game intelligence/awareness. I believe it will steer us. Winning a scrappy game feels better then winning two-three quaters then losing it all in the final quater. Freo are premier contenders, all their games are not the prettiest, we're just pushing for finals, let alone a grandfinal

Freo are a massive chance this year - we need to be better defensively. We kept a side to 2 goals in a half. We have to start to learn to totally shut a team down.

Strong favs V Bris h, Suns h, Dees a, Saints h
Favs V Blues, Bris a
50/50 Tigers,
Underdogs - WCE, Hawks Cats x 2.

I can see 7 in that group.

Good post. Maybe too positive for the people that think the sky is falling.

What I find interesting is that now that we are trying to add a defensive edge to our game, which pretty much everyone has been crying out for, it is a) assumed that we are going to play like Freo and the Saints under Lyon and b) that this is now being perceived as a bad thing by some.

What evidence do we have that we are now going to be looking to adopt a strangle only game style when it is evident that we have some seriously potent players? Balance between attack and defence is where it's at and I'd put my house on the fact that it is this balance between the two that we are looking for.

Exactly!

Hopefully it clicks into place on Sunday!

Agree - Freo are so good as they sit and absorb attack and pressure and then counter attack and score. What a shame Fyfe only got 2!! Him and Barlow missing would have been nice.

We have a seriously soft finish to the year.

GWS
Dogs
Adelaide (Hobart)
Melbourne.

There is no excuse for missing finals this year. None.

Using this as a guide, to which it's well documented I 100% agree, do you think 'Bye Bye Brad' will occur or will he continue his term?

(worst case scenario I know TPA, but interested to know your thoughts as i'm have read multiple times Scott will continue next year regardless)

I'm sure that is the case.

I'd say on what I've seen so far this year we are no where near reaching that balance. So far this year we have been neither defensive or attacking - we have just been shithouse.

From what I've read no one is upset we are adding a defensive side to our game at all (your b). I suspect most agree we need it but not at the expense of basically all our positive qualities which has in fact been the evidence so far.

Luckily played an even more rubbish team form wise last Sunday so we are now 1-1, and can hopefully regroup and start playing some quality footy whether attacking, defensive, upside down, backwards or otherwise.
