I loved the LT omission.

I loved the Harvey sub.

Both of them have too often been selfish players this season. There is a clear msg to both of them to play the team way......or you don't play.

If we can maintain that kind of harsh but fair selection, then I may just start to believe we are on the right track.

I am a harsh Scott critic, but this was a different approach and extremely welcome, well done.

Don't be fooled into thinking everything brad says to the media is precisely the truth. The media want to find cracks, they thrive off bad news to sell newspapers and he's smart enough to bend the truth when speaking to them.

What do you think the headlines would be if Brad came out and said "I dropped LT because he continually plays for free kicks, and I wanted to drop Harvey because he only ever runs one way but we've already made plans for his 400th so he's just going to be the sub this week".

It's plain to see that he's dropped LT and relegated Boomer to sub to send those players a message, and to put the whole team on notice. We don't NEED him to spell it out because it's obvious. Swallow even mentioned in the post game interview on TV that selection is no longer about talent, it's about performance, and you can bet your bottom dollar he is regurgitating Brad's words.

Something has happened to Brad in his break, some stern words perhaps?

He brings in Garner which was a ballsy decision, leaves McDonald in the VFL, drops Thomas, and brings boomer back down to earth with the green vest.

Then the dialogue of if you don't perform you are dropped, how players are trying to do too much on their own, and then everyone picks up their performances with hard running, faster ball movement and defensive pressure.

I'll be optimistic and rather than questioning why it's taken years to implement these, I'll be happy that it has and hope it continues forward

What happened to Brad during the break is that he read BigFooty while he we was incapacitated. I'm serious.

I like the turnaround. But he has no right to think that supporters/media are being unfair on him or the team. I was at that GC game. I know what I saw and will not apologise for being filthy.

I heard one interview where he said that Boomer hadn't followed some of the instructions he had give so he wouldn't listen to words he would hopefully listen to actions.

So I take 2 things from this,
1 he continues to dribble bullshit to us, the members.
2 the players haven't been listening to him.

As we've been saying for years, he can't get the players to play for him, and it's because the players know he's full of shit.

I think he believes his players are robots. Certainly he prefers players who play like robots. He doesn't like anyone showing a little emotion and flying the flag for each other. He denies the value of psychology. In saying that he doesn't believe in making a statement at the selection table, he is implying that what he does at the selection table does not impact the psychology of his players. They are not robots. They react to his selection table decisions one way or another. It's funny that you say anyone with half a brain could see this. Clearly Brad does not engage the hemisphere of his brain that is associated with empathy and emotion.

I think he wanted North Melbourne to be above that. He believed in his players intelligence enough that they can take all the coaching staff's feedback during the week and implement it on the field the following weekend without needing to be sent to the naughty corner (aka vfl).

He's not stupid, he knows very well that players respond to being dropped. IMO the coaching staff wanted to do things differently and try to teach players into form, rather than punish. What we're seeing now is evidence of a shift in that mentality. There's less trust in the players ability to rebound from a bad game - You don't perform, you're out.

I agree that it's well overdue, but I also don't hold it against them for attempting to do something different.
