Bye Bye Jack

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

With Presti and Reid back, both will be dropped but Goldy will stay because can play on smalls and talls.

Goldsack continually gets shown up playing on smalls.

FWIW I don't think any of the 3 will play come finals if Reid and Presti get back because we are probably already carrying an extra defender.
If tonight was the battle for that 22nd spot come finals between Blair and Goldsack, Blair won pretty convincingly.

Goldsack will make way for Davis.

So you call Macaffer a choker but think JA has something to offer?

Drug squad is on their way round to clean up your disgusting opium den.

JA is useless. **** him off.

Yep good point, clearly can't take anything I say seriously, just look at how I wrote off that spud Brent Machoker 3 months ago

....oh wait... :o

That is def his last game with us!! Didn't wanna be out there! What a waste of space!!!

Goodbye

Heard he is going to the Gold Coast next Season

I thought he was really good. He chased and tackled like he really wanted to be in the team. The free he gave away late was pretty ordinary but showed his lack of touch as a defender. He doesn't deserve the shit he is copping in this thread by some people. Calling for him to get the sack is a knee jerk overreaction.

Great post Invig, exactly what i thought.

Aside from losing his feet a couple of times and that free kick at the end, I thought he was good and had Walker beaten. Showed some good composure under pressure, I remember a couple of times Jack being under pressure, yet still hit up a target 40 metres away, one of the few players to do that for us tonight. Very promising from a play who has hardly played back since 2007.

Tackling and pressure was also very good, something he has been criticized for in the past.

Also took an attacking mindset into the game, evident by getting up the ground and trying to set up play, without getting caught out the numerous times we turned the pill over.

Anyone who wants to get rid of a player cabable of kick 50 goals in a season who also has the ability to competently hold down a KP in the backline is a poor judge of talent, of list management and most importantly football.

Wow. I cannot believe the support for this bloke. He was deplorable. He did about two decent kicks all night, and I think one of them was a shank. The one effort to spoil, and then "tackle" when I can't remember who, snapped for goal was shocking. The free kick in the last was equally bad. Look totally out of depth. Very very lucky Walker had a shocker, because almost any other forward would have made him look stupid tonight.

He's clearly not in our best 22, but is very handy for "depth", and he still has room and time for improvement.

I hope we don't lose him to the GC, because he can play either end of the ground (although one end much better then the other), so he is still important for us.

The problem for Jack is Reid, N.Brown and next year Lachie Keefe will all be rated higher then him down back, so we need to concentrate on him being a "3rd forward", a little like the role Meds has played for so long.

A new favourite to boot? Josh is going to be upset if Jack takes over as the player who is the designated bashee...

Jack isnt one of my favourite players but I do like it when Collingwood players are given a chance by the so-called magpie fans. He's played a handful of games down back for the VFL side after spending the best part of a year and half up forward in the seniors.

I don't understand what people see in him. He goes to ground far too easily, can't lead, has his back to the ball, leaves his man all the time and makes stupid decisions when he has the ball. He's frustrating to watch and doesn't deserve a game.

its not bye bye but tbh i feel hes a liability, he's not a very smart footballer. would be worried seeing him selected in any fnals side

write off year for him. if hes with us next year, great. reset and start again

Only watched the last quarter, didn't really get a good look at how bad both of them were.

However, from what I remember Jack DOES and HAS gone to ground very easily in most of the matches I've seen him play. I'm really not suprised to hear that.

People have mentioned that he kept his opponent, Walker, quiet. Walker did kick 2 goals which is okay. I think the fact he goes to ground is something that can be easily fixed and not the end of the world. For me, the main problem was that his lack of effort and his pace. If anyone could answer me how he looked today regarding those 2 attributes would be greatly appreciated.

Although Goldsack probably did have a sh*t one, the fact that I would be on Team Goldsack is because Goldsack has performed well lately and this is probably his only bad game where as Anthony hasn't had a good one this whole season.

Anthony just seemed 1 step behind Walker. Lucky for him, Walker couldn't hold a mark to save his life but Jack still was around a step or 2 behind him.

He's still trying to outbody his opponent, he looked like a kid on his opponent. I admire his spirit though, but he has to work and think differently from this.

He still has that forward brain trying to outmark instead of punching.

Get his pace up and stick him on the forward flank next season, ffs he kicked 50 for us in his first full season as a stand alone tall forward and can kick straight. make use of it Mick.

Actually thought he was very good tonight. Walker had the one goal due to Jolly's f***ed up chest mark. And did his job IMO. Didnt make any major erros by foot. As a back pocket/CHB, doesnt need the footy and did his job and stopped his man from kicking a goal! All you need to say really!

it seems that he goes to ground too easily.... i can remember "the so-called experts" in this forum saying that dawes couldnt take an overhead mark... and guess what? the kid improved

some idiot wrote in this thread that he couldnt believe the support that jack was getting.....gee whiz... maybe its because this is a collingwood forum and collingwood supporters are supporting their player.

i can remember a guy called matthew lloyd who looked pretty crap whenver he played further towards the centre of the ground. He still did ok in his favourite position. Maybe jack wont make it down back. It might take more than one match to actually prove that..

They are terrible arguments. I'm not writing the kid off, but you can't be happy with that performance. There were so many elementary mistakes. Maybe he is better as a forward, maybe he should never have been played down back. But that doesn't change the fact that he was terrible last night, as a full back. And since when does being a Collingwood supporter mean that you have to blindly support the players? I want the best for the team, and at the moment, as a full back, Jack is no where near the best for the team.

As a defender you don't go to ground, you negate contests, you don't attempt to mark unless your absolutely certain, you put your fist through the ball instead of tapping it to ground, you make your tackles stick. You don't give away stupid free kicks towards the end of a close game. You learn all these things on your first day of defender school.

We talking about the same guy here?

Kicked 50 goals in '09 including the semi final sealer?

Completely outpointed his opponent last night playing as a key defender?

22 years old?

Two of those things are totally irrelevant and one of them is just plain not true. He played on a very very poor Taylor Walker who dropped almost everything he should have taken and missed the easiest goal I've ever seen. And he was still made to look distinctly average.

I've gone through my criticisms before, and they still stand valid. Pointing out age and past achievements counts for nothing. Otherwise Mark McGough would never have been delisted.

that was the final straw for me!! i also notice he always goes to ground in a contest, never can keep his feet!!
Not only does he go to ground, when he does he seems to give up. He needs to go and play for another club. Hell be better for it and the pies will also. I feel the pies have moved forward this year an absolute mile and jack has not.

He never makes a second effort. And for those saying to give him another chance as he played out of his favoured position - he came to the club as a defender, and he only ever gets one of the best in the VFL when he plays in the backline.

malthouse has gotten away from the lynch mob over this one, why medhurst was dropped only he will know. JA had a shocker, the guy lets down you on so many levels, intensity, nous, and desire, all points that the entire team lacked last night. But when you see stuff up after stuff up so close to the big prize it makes you wonder. Malthouse has too stop ****ing around, pick the team that will put the dogs to the sword and make all others have a think how the **** are we gonna beat the pies.

Actually I think his second efforts in his tackling are one of his better attributes

You do realise we won, yes?
