Bye Bye Nobles

As stated publicly, Walsh is reporting through to Amarfio, and then subsequently, the Board. I'd be amazed if Amarfio is immediate fallout from the review.

If there are mass changes within the football department, then I would expect that Amarfio would be asked to present to the board as to how it went wrong under his watch and may then come under scrutiny and review from Sonja and co.
Yeah, again, Walsh's review into Carlton's football dept might be instructive here to get a rough timeline of how long it takes from announcement of a review to a CEO's resignation...

June 11 2021: review into Carlton announced (compared to June 22 2022 when the review into NM was announced)
August 26: Teague sacked
August 27: Details of review emerge, showing only 30% of players and staff supported Teague's methods
Sept 10: Liddle resigns as CEO

There are obviously key differences between our situation and theirs, not least of which is our historically bad H&A which make player attraction and retention pretty difficult. By comparison, Carlton was able to successfully attract players like Cerra even in the absence of an ongoing senior coach. That suggests to me that we could see our review completed quicker than Carlton's was.

There would be a fair few of us hoping that this review can be actioned upon by the end of the month. But you'd expect a fair bit of water to pass under the bridge before we get to a stage where Amarfio may or may not be getting the chop.

We need to calm the farm here, people; there's been a review put in a place, and I can't imagine any fundamental decision will be made until that report is received - apart from the fact waiting for it would be good practice, to do otherwise would attract a hurricane of criticism about knee-jerk reactions, short termism, why engage Walsh in the first place etc etc. The only things that would disrupt that timeline would be (a) an interim report that warranted action, or (b) the coach opts to resign. Short of those outcomes, not much point burning a lot of emotional energy for the next 3 weeks.

So what is he a part of then?

Above any review is that what you are suggesting?

You are entitled to your opinion, but I assure you his position will be looked at by Walsh whether you you like it or not.
He's the executive in charge of the organisation.

He's certainly subject to scrutiny and should be put under the microscope by the board and I'm sure that will happen.

Thanks MP.
I hope that Nobles goes before early Sept.

Just as an addendum:

Walsh presented to the Carlton Board on August the 12th according to the doyen of football journos, Tom Browne.

The Carlton review also had two other participants in Matt Pavlich and some other dude, so there were 3 sets of eyes on their operation as opposed to our 1.

So your whole point was complete nonsense?
Mate just take the L. There's no shame in being wrong, there is in acting like a dill about it.

Amarfio isn't included in the scope of the review being conducted by Walsh.

I remember this game vividly. I had just flown back into Victoria from QLD and was listening to the comeback on the radio during my trip home. Luckily I was the only one in the car as I was barracking at the top of my voice. How good was Sav! Those were the days.

I’d love for Walsh to include in his review a simple poll to the players and it can just be 1 question

Do you want noble to be the coach next year?

And if it is not a resounding majority yes then sack him

Then focus the review on other parts of the football department

It’ll actually be a trick question. Those that answer “yes” will get sacked as well.

Haha
Nah but seriously anonymous poll all players vote

Let’s close off that part of the review this week and turn our attention to other parts of our club

I'm not wrong.

In fact you are.

Armafio will be reviewed by Walsh as part of his senior role at the club.

It's the whole reason Walsh has been brought in to do exactly that.

Too stupid to admit you're wrong.

no dude - he was just correcting you.

Just because you don't/'can't understand doesn't mean his point was nonsense.

Well he was wrong so yes it was nonsense.

You believe whatever you want, if you think Armafio is not subject to review by Walsh then you are either naive or stupid, maybe both.

What if the coach happens to disappear?

396 disposals compared to our 311.

74 to 25 inside 50's based on those disposals.

And yet supporters need a "review" done (not including Armafio apparently) before deciding if Noble is the one.

Does anyone believe he will survive? What is the point of dragging it out? If it’s only the external optics then that can be managed and mitigated.

Sack him today.
I don't believe he will survive but the review is wider than just Noble.

Sacking Noble will likely force role changes and other upheaval within the football department which would likely skew the results of the review.

Do the review properly and then act.

This is a case where Kanga's "don't think do" doesn't apply - definitely need to think before doing here. We must get this right to get out of the deep hole we're in as quickly as possible.

You make well articulated and reasonable arguments but I don’t agree.

Sustaining another two weeks of the emotional and cultural damage being inflicted by this man’s leadership outweighs the possible negatives of skewing the integrity of the broader department review.

I fear Sonja doesn’t feel like she has the authority yet as she’s so new to the job. Unfortunately this is the job. The single most important responsibility of the president is the hiring and firing of the coach. She needs to step up.
