I'm surprised that we couldn't have got a Rhys Palmer type trade done for both Barlow and Silvagni, but sadly we get nothing for either of them.

Similarities between the two blokes delisted in the last two days. Both uncontracted and in their late 20s, both struggled with injuries, and both at their very best are better than a number of players contracted by the club.

SNOS certainly had more injuries than Barlow, but at his best is probably better than anyone currently in defence (except for a fully fit Johnson). A. Pearce, Hamling and Collins are on the way up and Dawson and Ibbotson aren't even in the same league.

Oh well, hope he gets a gig somewhere else but get the feeling he may be calling time.

Another great clubman departs continuing our mini rebuild.

The cleanout will be largely complete in 12 months.

2017:
Griffin
Suban
Ballantyne
Ibbotson
Dawson

2018
D Pearce

Spurr, Johnson and Sandi probably retire over the next 2 years also.

Wow, when you see it projected like that it's a huge clean out.

Re stumping my a**e, that is a total rebuild and good on the club for having the balls to go down that road rather than twiddle around with a bit of a nip and tuck job like North and Richmond have been doing for years and years. Following on from our best ever trading period it's time to be brave.

Ross is about to write a whole new chapter in his coaching resume.

Ahh bumkin. Not that it's a massive shock, but sad to see SCOS go. Just a great attitude and he could play, not a star, but he proved he was an AFL capable player. Combination of bad luck and quality players ahead of him when he was at his best meant his opportunities were limited, but he never dropped his head and gave his all. Somebody posted it above, but I'd take a fit Silva over Dawson every day of the week and it shits me that Zac is going to go on while a far more rounded player like Silva is being let go.

But, it is what it is. With our recent signings and his history of injury, it's quite likely he would have been a minor contributor for no more than a year, not much point holding on to him in the circumstances.

Loved his application, loved his attack on the ball, loved that he backed himself even even though he was never a sure thing in the starting 22 - that's not an easy thing to do. An underrated true footballer that I for one will miss.

Cheers SNOS, hope you find another team. Thanks for the passion.

Geez you need faith in RTB, its all abit of rinse and repeat about it all.

Sucks that he's gone, but honestly, with the addition of Hamling, plus A Pearce, Collins, a fit Johnson, and even Dawson, he wouldn't see much playing time in the main team.
Since when do the words 'fit' & 'Johnson' go together. Can't remember that!

The club really do done right thing , if they concentrate trading out barlow and silva and fail to recruit hamling and kersten more postie will be furious, now as delisted FA more club will be interested in them.
Speak for yourself. Who's the dude on here who does the bricking? Needs to pay C Bond a little visit. :)

Always kept his head up and gave 110% for freo and peel. He can leave knowing he got the most out of himself. Best of luck Silva and thanks for your efforts.

This is crazy. A bit of a re plumb says ross. We have gone a full rebuild on the run !! Nkt like geelong adding a few, a big one. Those that have been around these parts for a while know i can be pretty negative, but i think its going to work !!

2016 was a blessing in disguise. Because the young blokes that will take over from these guys have had a year under their belt. Bring in some experienced, albeit not superstars, but areas of need. And Wallah !!!

Premiers 2017

Best of luck to another truly GOOD BLOKE. Hoping he gets picked up by another club looking for some leadership and a cool head down back. If he does get a chance, hope he can stay fit.

Reckon this will be it for him, however. Sad to say, but at 29, and so injury prone... maybe someone will throw him a rookie list lifeline. Here's hoping Alex - you deserve it just for being such a nice fella. :hearts::hearts:

To me this guy epitomized what our Club stands for where it was at training ,playing for Peel or filling in for Mcpharlin or Pav . He gave it everything for the jumper ,coach and his team mates .
He was a star in the finals for Peel .He put his body on the line when he played for Freo as a consequence he got injuries but held his head up high and never stoped trying .
Well Done SNOS I will miss our talks and watching you play .

The Lyon only plays his favourites mantra has totally gone - I really don't expect Dawson will get a game next year unless injury hits hard.
Somebody is going to be disappointed come round 1 when Dawson and Pearce both line up.

Geelong also have 13 list changes this year - although they'll have a much older B22 than ours

Going to miss him. Sort of took over from Groves as that big backman that's just a little bit psycho. A contender should pick him up just so he can play on Buddy in the finals.

Guess you can add Mundy to the likely to retire in the next two years list but yes that is everyone else.

You reckon? Unless Hamling turns out a lot better than I think he is then we need a stopper on the oppositions best key forward. That's Dawson. Silvagni was a similar player, just not quite as good and more injury prone.

I would have thought he'd be looked at by other clubs though. Brisbane seems like an obvious one.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Sos was always better that what he's given credit for. Never did much wrong and did a hell of a lot right.
