Looks very nice at the moment.

Next step will be next year after teams get an off-season to do some proper scouting on him.

From what I have seen I would back him in to turn out well but could struggle early next year with extra attention.
Depends if he's alone down forward next year or if we bring in another tall I guess

The thing that we really like about ML is what seems to be his enthusiasm to develop. He worked very very hard during the off season on his tank and is bearing the fruits. If he can do it again on his core without jeopardizing his athleticism and meet the extra attention next year we’ll have done well.

His attitude on field makes me hope he can.

Either way he will still get extra attention.

Having another big target though will mitigate that.
Yeah if he's the more damaging forward he will get more attention. That said, he's the only actual key forward we are playing at the moment, no Gunston this week, no Rough for the last two, O'Brien and Nash as the only other talls.

He's getting a good shot at being the man and he's played 8 games this year so there's some tape on him for opposition coaches to look at.

Not with Patton by his side. ;)

Hill had 37 @73%, 553m gained, yet he wasn't that damaging against us today. I'd take hendo's game for us over hill's game for freo.

I love Hendo and he's had a great year but I would take Hilly no question.

Unfair on Hill as he isn't the most talented dude however you would struggle to find any players who work as hard as he does on gameday. Ild take him back in a heartbeat. good reason why Lyon and Clarkson love him. You know big win/horrific loss you can't question his effort.

Love how this thread is bumped every win/loss. We've found a player in Oli. Unfortunately losing Mitchell has shown Worpel is more then capable of standing up. Our forwardline struggles have shown that Lewis was given a chance probably earlier then he deserved but has shown he's comfortable in this league. Tim Obrian has probably earned another year
Hardwick has stepped up, he's entering his prime but Impey has really grown into his role

We'll get Some smashings tail end of the year with vsing Geelong/West coast/Gws. Lions love to belt us the last couple of years ago but before some.stupid "told ya so!" We've shown were almost there. We.get back a brownlow medalist. Our older players bar Mcevoy Burgoyne breast and Frawley have been passengers this year and were 1-2 good players from being right up there.

Yes/maybe. For someone who was a late pick he's built like a fridge. With Breust and the ghost of Poupolo still out there I'm sure they are more then happy for opponents to double team old Lewis.

Shown some great consistency for a young key forward so far. But yeah good signs this year but next year we see if he can spearhead a hawthorn attack. I feel teams are still more worried about Gunston.

The supposed death of Hawthorn is premature imo, although while i think they can return to finals next year and beyond, i'm not sure about their premiership chances.

They've had a few close losses this year and a few other unlucky ones where they likely would have won if not for in-game injuries.

Tom Mitchell back is a huge immediate addition next year. A big if, but they will be a transformed team if guys like Wingard, Gunston & Breust can return to form. Scully may improve from his injury. Then if they could nab someone like Coniglio everything changes again.

However their bottom 6 is pretty poor and may hold them back from being genuine contenders. Not all that impressed by some of the younger players they've been cycling through like O'Brien, Brand, Glass, Nash, Morrison, Hardwick etc

They do seem to need another big key forward though. Mitchell developing but still young & raw, Roughy about to retire. That's about it.

🤦‍♂️

The thing is while worm burner worpel does look like a decent prospect he actually gets hyped up way more than he should be by hawthorn fans because he’s virtually the only decent young player they’ve got.(don’t believe me?see the ridiculous hype around Burton 2years back)-so good they then preceded to trade him , lol.

Just about every single team in the league would have a midfielder coming through their ranks that would at least be able to lay claim to being on par or close to worpel
Just at the hawks he’s kinda a novelty
Oh, it must burn.

See how many second year mids you can see in this picture?

Fair calls. Hardwick has been really good for us and definitely doesn’t fall inot that category of rotating players.

Nash is very frustrating. He shows very good glimpses and is a very good athlete but he goes missing and his foot skills are poor.

Think the impact of Birchall back in the team is massive. The backline always seems so much more stable and organised when’s he’s back there.

Last weeks win on the back of Hawks youth, this weeks win the two best players Lewis and Worpel. People need to start listening to Clarko more closely than to all the BF buffoons on here. It’s moving in the right direction!
