The people saying Coniglio rejected Hawthorn are grossly ill-informed.

The Hawks strategically denied recruiting Cogs so they could get Tomlinson. Was all part of a master plan.

They did this last year as well. Denying Shiel a trade so they could get an above average injury prone small forward.

Nah definitely sounds like Coniglio actually turned his back on us. Very different to last year with Shiel.

It'd have been deeply concerning earlier in the year but luckily Wingard revealed some amazing form playing in the midfield in the back half of the season and so while it certainly hurts to miss out on Cogs, at least we've managed to uncover some real x-factor in the middle.

No it wasn't. I know you missed the finals and are getting excited for next year but let's not overrate performance.

If you're pinning your hopes on gaining players from other clubs to be successful, you're not too confident where you're headed as a club.

I'm really not concerned about total disposal numbers. He was good and showed he still has the talent but calling his performance elite is a stretch. He was far from elite.

I'm talking about what he did with the footy, how he broke the lines, and the manic tackling pressure he put on. Totally transformed our midfield. Add Mitchell, and who knows what happens next year.

Sure we missed on Cogs, but may hit the draft hard now. Most Hawk fans you talk to are optimistic about next year.

As I said, you'll see a change of tact since missing on Cogs.

As you would know, I had a ton of mail that said he was coming until Gil stepped in. As did other Hawk posters. Many had similar mail. Much of it was contrary to what happened which suggested we were played by his manager in the last week.

Oh well, we move on now.
