Being a little presumptuous that Freo will beat Gold Coast this week.

Just for the sake of it, do you think that this team:

Back: Hayden, McPharlin, Silvagni
Half Back: Ibbotson, Grover, Duffield
Centre: Mzungu, de Boer, Broughton
Half Forward: Johnson, Pavlich, Crowley
Forward: Mayne, Bradley, Ballentyne
Followers: Griffin, Barlow, Fyfe
Bench: Palmer, Lower, Hinkley or Pearce, sub: Mellington

could beat this team:

Back: Smith, Grundy, Mattner
Half Back : Bevan, Roberts-Thomson, Kennelly
Centre: McVeigh, Bolton, Shaw
Half Forward: Goodes, Reid, McGlynn
Forward: O'Keefe, White, Johnston
Followers: Munford, Jack, Hannebery
Bench: Seaby, Malcheski, Kennedy or Bird, sub: Everitt

at the SCG?

Dropped for form reasons

We seem to beat teams interstate except for when in Melbourne and we did beat them last year at the SCG. Obviously, a pretty different team fielded compared to last year, but who knows!

I'm sorry but I can't take you seriously if you are going to start this drop Hill shit again.
If nothing else he wears the number 1 tag from the opposition, ergo you take him out the number 1 tag goes to someone else, say, I don't know, Fyfe?
Apart from that I thought he was good this week, 20 odd possies, some nice work in the clinches, his kicking is always excellent.
The idea that A we would want to and B can afford to drop a player of his quality is, IMO, just stupid.

Dropping hill is rediculous as Shed mentioned. Copping a number 1 tag is a difficult thing to do (look at wells). But every now and again he does an amazing inside 50 and its a win/win.

On top of this, Hill would make a HUGE impact as a sub, possibly the perfect player for it. So to drop him to a sub would be half understandable IF we had a team at FULL fitness.

Also we could possibly have McPhee (ok) and suban (AWSOME!) for sydney. These would be huge ins. Allowing us too drop the less capable such as a hinkley/crowley. I sincerely hope Pearce stays (depending on how he goes against GC) and i guess it would be good for mellington to stay (although hes gonna struggle for a spot long term with all our small/high pressure forwards like mayne, ballas, walters, de Boer, even pearce)

We can beat sydney. We should beat sydney. And it will probably be the most important game for us bar NM at etihad. Its a must win.

Would prefer Mellington to play a full game, or to be subbed off. I think the kid's quality... would like him to have a couple more games to show it. Was committed, smart and made good decisions. Deserves a decent run (Crichton had more than enough chances, as an example).

Would rather MJ or Hinkley as the sub.

Collingwood were coming off the bye, though, so it's hard to measure.
We could take it up to them, but it'll depend which freo shows up. Fyfe's effort last year won him a rising star nomination. Looking forward to the repeat.

McPhee is more than ok, i reckon. We've really missed his tackling, pressure and 1%s. He'll go a long way to making us more accountable.

I would definetly agree, im quite a big McPhee fan, however im worried about the impact his injury will have on his aging body :/

Tough to beat the swans at the SCG. If our pressure is up on the day then every chance, but we are not consistently bringing that part of our game this year.

I think we will suffer a close loss.

I've seen the Swans twice at the SCG this year and they were pretty ordinary on both occasions. Lost both times.

He's been doing SFA the last couple of months and is still in his peak. I reckon he's enough of a pro to be up and about. My only worry is that skills wise, it takes him a couple of games to warm up, so if he's in, expect some clangers.

Hes been doing SFA due to an injury, this is actually a hurdle not a rest ha.

Also i thought he was 29? that is definatly past prime, i would say 25-26 is prime age.

Yeah clangers are to be expected but aslong as there in the forward half his good will far out weigh his bad.

29 in October. 26 is still green for mine.
Injured his knee but, so you wouldn't think he'd hit the ground running.

Depends which sydney shows up.

If its the sydney that just block everything up an have stoppage after stoppage after stoppage we will struggle.
As we get smashed inside just about every week.

If they dont bring that game we can win ofcourse theres a chance we could get on a plane again an decide not to show up its all too hard, too many injuries etc.
An we will be never in the game.

Im worried about the GC game if we go in their thinking its an easy win we could lose to them.
They will kill us around the ground with their run.
We will have to hit em hard early an show some aggression to get them worried.
Must win by more than 40 no excuses

Oh i thought he was 29 going on 30. 28 is fine i spose :)

lol@ Sman: so we shouldnt take them lightly but u want us to win by 7 goals?

If they take the game too lightly thinking its an easy win as it should be, it wont happen.
Because if a team isnt switched on mentally they will struggle.

If they aproach it like a must win game against tough opposition they should win easily.
