And if you truly think Carey's actions are a credit to himself and his team, you are more deluded than I thought!

And if you think the actions of your club and supporters last saturday night are a credit to your team then you are definately deluded. Also your captain didnt even take the time to turn up for the media conference that he is supposed to attend, injured or not, for the sake of the Sydney Swan supporters he should be there, if not for the w***ers in Sydney then the ones here in Melb. And that is not the first time he hasnt turned up, all because he wants the Sydney fans to himself, his words not mine. He should realise that he should be doing as much as he can for football in Sydney, especially as he is so injury prone, he may not have long to do much more.

Woah - slow down.
You may have noticed that my nick says 'Bomber' - which means I'm actually an Essendon supporter.
Funnily enough I live in Sydney too...
(Who'da thunk it???)

Don't get me wrong, I think the way the Swans have treated the Roos (regarding moving to Sydney) is a bit petty, but I fail to see how mouthing off (spitting?!) at supporters helps your cause, if the Roos really want to have a 'home' up here.

You right, the Swans supporters probably did give Carey some stick all night, but I still don't see that as any excuse for a 'Professional' with Carey's talent to react in such a stupid and petty way.

Anyway, it's only my 2c...

I was at the SCG last Saturday night and watched a replay. The crowd was alright from where I sat. The Boo a Roo was a bit pointless as the game wore on. Last year was the probably the worst crowd I have been in, as Ron Barassi commented at the time. Carey gave it to the crowd at one point, but if you are going to get uppity at that, you take yourself too seriously - just admit that you don't like Wayne Carey because over the years , at some time he has single handedly beaten your side. He has wacked a few opponents, been suspended, but name an influential player who hasn't. Lloyd is now starting to let the opposition teams know that he won't be pushed around, and if that means missing a week or two, then so be it. Good players, if they don't hit back run the risk of being belted out of the game, even today. Leigh Matthews said "there are only two types of players - hitters and hittees, and there is no point in being a hittee!!"
The spitting allegation on 3LO, I presume was after the Monday game, which was also on Newsradio, which I was listening to in Sydney. The caller wasn't a long time North fan, but a Sydney supporter who was told about it by someone who supposedly saw it. He was cut off only after his allegation had gone to air and Dwayne Russell and Barry Stoneham said it sounded unlikely. As someone has already said the cameras are there and if it did happen about 500 Swans members would have seen it and no other news would have been broadcast in this City all week.

You see SydneyBomber as a Kanga supporter and really knowing what Carey is like, I didnt even have to read what Peter had to say first before I knew that this was not true. But still you chose to believe that he actually spat on someone. Now you have probably told a few others about it and so the story gets bigger and bigger. Your 2c worth has probably turned into about $10 worth when it comes to what others now think of Carey. He didnt spit at anyone.

SydneyBomber,

As Daphne said, "you .02c has now turned into $10.00"

Are you so blinded by jealousy and hatred towards Carey, that you would believe he would spit on a supporter?

Who is the BIGGEST name in football? Clue, he doesn't play for Essendon.

If Carey HAD spat on a supporter, by now there would have been video, photos, "alleged witnesses" and a Royal Commission into the 'incident' and Carey would have been found guilty beforehand?

If you actually live in Sydney, no less than a 'football icon' and SYDNEY DIRECTOR, Ron Barassi said after last year's North v Sydney game, that the Sydney supporters WERE DISGRACEFUL in the continuted booing of Carey. "The game was one of the most disgusting and "un-Australian".

I suggest you take a more even-handed approach, or at least open your eyes and if YOU see or hear an incident, then comment. How credible are your comments, if they are third-hand or hearsay with a bias.

PS Do you know why Sydney had the Boo-a-Roo campaign. Those "loyal", "faithful" and "true" SYDNEY supporters, had to be convinced to go and see their OWN team, on their OWN home ground!!!
That's like Essendon having a campaign for a Richmond v Essendon. The EFC needs to convince their supporters to go the MCG, because it's a Richmond home game.

AND TO THINK YOU BELIEVED THE RANTINGS OF A SYDNEY SUPPORTER?

Maybe my reply is a little "too intellectual" for a Sydneysider.

Can you stop being so indignant for a minute and read my posts?!
I agreed earlier that the Sydney crowd is VERY fickle - a HUGE portion of them left by half time the other night (Vs Essendon), and it was great( but sad at the same time)!!!!

Contrary to what you seem to believe, I don't hate Carey - I may not like his 'personality', but no-one would deny his ability.

I did NOT state he spat at someone, I was just mentioning something I had heard...

You are correct, this probably should've been verified before I typed it out.... like so many other rumours on this board - NOT!!!!

Get off your highhorse....

SB, ignore Michelle, she's so one-eyed it's a laugh, particularly the way she goes on about others being "even-handed".

As for Carey, he's a champion player no doubt, but at times his behaviour isn't that great. No doubt most of those who question it wouldn't if he played for their team (the samw way Michelle doesn't).

Dave,

You're the clown that asked if I thought Carey tripped "strongman" Barry Hall. I noticed that you didn't reply to my post re Hall, KOing Sam McFarlane behind play in a reserve match. Sam turned up to the tribunal, jaw broken in 2 places and heavily wired. He couldn't speak. The tribunal had NO hesitation in giving Hall 6 weeks to think about his actions.

Have a 'laugh' at my expense, it doesen't worry me.

Sam McFarlane never played AFL footy again.

SydneyBomber,

To which actions are you referring? This topic refers supposedly to Carey "spitting" on a supporter.

Carey is under intense public scutiny. IF he had done what was suggested, don't you think that, in particular, the media, would have 'jumped' all over that incident. Instead, we have a 'poster' who heard on the radio, a "North" supporter, who claimed......need I go on. The waters are muddied by opposition supporters who for whatever reason don't like Carey and see that as an easy target to tag along.

BTW Dunstall, Hird and Carey had a 1hr show on MMM, a couple of years ago called Piggy, Jimmy and Rooboy. One day, (I think at before the start a season,) there were rumours (don't know what) floating around about Hird. The 3 of them laughed because they all went through ALL the rumours that had been spread about each of them. The 3 of them couldn't believe or understand WHY or WHO would go to such lengths. Some of the rumours were incredible!

I don't like rumours, and I cannot understand what motivates people to cause such hurt or mischief to players' or their families.

That's right, and as usual you didn't answer the question. You know, didn't show that "even handedness" you were talking about.

Firstly I didn't see it as it was off the first few pages, but having read in now I have to ask, that's relevant to you being unbiased how? I ask you about an incident re a north player tripping someone (no free, no report) and to show you're not a hypocrite and you're not biased you ignore it and bring up an incident about a north player being hit. Being unbiased is about recognising that your teams players are capable of wrong doing, not bringing in red herrings.

Sam McFarlane never played AFL footy again.

Niether did Barry Stonehame after being belted by Dipper, but that's not relevant to Carey tripping Hall either.

Dave,

Knowing a young player has been "king hit" in a reserves game and the tribunal has NO hesitation in giving the offending player (Hall) a 6 week "holiday" and also with the knowledge that Sam McFarlane didn't play footy again, hardly endears me to that player.

If you expect me to unbiased about Hall, sorry! Hall, IF he puts his mind to it, can play a bit of footy, but over his football career, he is to intent on go for the man.

Interesting Malcolm Blight's comments this evening!

Michele,

I couldn't give a fig if you're not too endeared of BBBBH,
smile.gif
, after what he did that's quite understandable. IMO saying that somethings ok becuase it happned to a player you dislike is a tad "morally bankrupt". An action is wrong regardless of who did it or whom it was done too, that's all.
