Not sure that Garlett has the polish to be a pure crumber just yet.

Personally I'd rather Betts, Hoops, Murph etc. coming in to pick up crumbs from the marking forwards.

Garlett is there for his defensive pressure and I'd like him to focus on winning his own ball, especially when the opposition are already running it out of there, he already excells at this particular skill at the highest level :thumbsu:

Many times the mid will win the ball and thread out a handpass to a runner going past and everyone streaming forward but with a long quick kick to Fev one on one, he is a strong chance to mark (so not on the lead) and many balls will spill, and this is the moment for a Garlett or Betts swoop. No time for the mids like Murph to get there). If the kick in is fast and direct there will also be no time for the defence to flood back. Many times I wondered over the past few years why Eddie wasnt at Fevs feet. Perhaps Garlett can be, someone needs to be. We very much lack genuine crumbing forwards.

Garlett is PLAYING AFL this week

Yarran is playing VFL this week

fact

I don't know what your source is strategy but I give you a strong chance of being right.

It was alluded to that Yarran is not up to AFL standard with his fitness yet and is likely to be given more time to build his fitness levels, according to the players review.

Also, Carlton usually do not promote someone off the rookie list especially using a LTI unless they are going to play them that week, suggesting that Garlett would be a strong chance to play rnd 1.

Damn it... wil Garlett make his debut. made a bet with my best mate (who is a die hard Blues fan) and he said that Garlett will play round one, this was three weeks ago, with him in contention, chances of me jumping off the west gate are increasingly bigger each day as I am now on a 4 bet losing streak worth nearly $150.

it has to turn around soon...

In all this hype, one man has kind of been forgotten....

Chris Yarran...

Is he that bad that he has to be languishing in the Bullants for a few weeks to get used to the pace of the game?.. Hope we havent stuffed up Pick 6...

So if I am correct, Garlett has been elevated on the senior list to replace Warnock ??? (i am to lazy to read this thread from the start ??? :D)

Yeah, believe that to be correct CP.

I could see Garlett making his debut ahead of Yarran quite easily. Nothing against Yarran but Garlett has shown he's more capable and in better form at this stage. I'm sure Yarran will find his grove and be introduced into senior action in due course. Probably just needs a few more hitouts.

Long term Yarran is going to the better player then Garlett (and most other draftees from the 08 draft IMHO)

He is a long term project, we have enough depth and talent on our list to let Yarran develop in the VFL and acclimitise to Victoria ...

Put everything you have on a Bomber's spoon. Clean-up time. :thumbsu:

Jacobs could be good and has a good chance to prove himself against Simmonds.

But I'm still not 100% on this guy because apparently we got butchered in the ruck by bloody Freo and hence why they smashed us in the pre-season game out in the Western australian paddock!

Sandilands will kill most ruckman this year, even rookie ranga's!

Jacobs will be needed against Richmond.

Why has Yarran fallen out of favour all of a sudden?

Garlett could be a new Cyril Rioli?

And the stupid just keep getting stupider

Thank god we have a match committee and don't leave the selection of the side to experts with computer access during their lunch breaks .

I am glad Garlett will get a run in our forward line sooner rather than later ...he along with twitch and sauce were the finds of the NAB cup ...his defensive skills are second to none in our forward line ..despite his size he will cause many a headache for opposing coaches.
For those questioning his build ..how big was Waganeen ?
