Great draft work again by SOS kept em all guessing and steals Kemp at 17 and then nails the speed we missed on Stephens by snaring Philp out from under Tigers noses.

Why trade for pick 20, when Philps would have been there at 40.

Other clubs snookered us with who we wanted,even Geel with Cooper Stephens, but SOS and the team are not to blame........but still very disappointed to miss so many targets in this draft............

Ok. Riddle.me this. SOS obviously knows the pick trade craft. Why would be make the the swap with port if there was a chance we wouldn't get our man?

Yea after Philp was gone they took the next player in the game style/mould

So they wanted Philp? If that’s true, then I confess this makes me happier with the pick. I still think Robertson was the better pick. I think Teague was questioning the pick in the Draft room. SOS was adamant - I’m sure I saw him say “just watch him”. Clearly keen on Philp. So that’s enough for me.

Im thinking SOS knew tigers wanted philp so he traded up 2 spots so tigers took Dow as there second choice

Well done Blues! I would be very happy with that effort. I think you got someone in Kemp who is basically a top 10 talent and still managed to get another 1st round pick by trading out a pick in the 60’s. Philp sounds like a pretty good player with elite speed which is important in today’s game. And on top of that you forced Freo and GWS to pay proper weight for their academy players.

I'm starting to really think that SOS doesn't know what a small forward is.

Speed and contested ball winning is basically their entire game plan.

If Philp can clean up that first touch could be a deadset steal

And forget small forwards, SOS has addressed our real needs, speed, ball winners and disposal by foot

Yes, it's good. I'm probably more relieved for the players we didn't take than glad for the ones we did.
Speed holds many a value if used properly and didn't want double-ups on types although Kemp can become something we don't have even if we do....makes no sense, but it does to me.
