A bloke with a bung knee and a mid nobody rated remotely close to the first round (wasn't even good enough for a mediocre Metro team).

Seems Carlton enough.

The bloke with a bung knee will be a gun, a massive Hawks fan as well, I was hoping we grabbed him.

Not that I am unhappy with our pick because the kid we picked has a massive upside but if it had been up to me, Kemp would have been a Hawk.

We took a long time picking Philp so I presume he was a back up.

Explains why they were laughing before making the selection, this type of work is why sos should stay he makes these moves while the tigers could have done a similar trade but didn't and miss their man.

And forget small forwards, SOS has addressed our real needs, speed, ball winners and disposal by foot

So they wanted Philp? If that’s true, then I confess this makes me happier with the pick. I still think Robertson was the better pick. I think Teague was questioning the pick in the Draft room. SOS was adamant - I’m sure I saw him say “just watch him”. Clearly keen on Philp. So that’s enough for me.

I'm starting to really think that SOS doesn't know what a small forward is.

Reckon the one we get for free in a week that would have cost us one of those picks we used to mind**** half the other clubs in the national draft suggests otherwise!

Other clubs snookered us with who we wanted,even Geel with Cooper Stephens, but SOS and the team are not to blame........but still very disappointed to miss so many targets in this draft............

We had one pick at the start of the night and Kemp as s potential target. We got him and and extra player on top. Also kept the other clubs honest. What's not to like?
Melts after that are from those who can never be satisfied.
AFL would be stoked with tonight for an engagement level. Keeps the sport on lips two months after the end of the season.

I doubt sos would have done the trade if we wanted dekoning. He would have waited after geelongs Pick like he did last year waiting for stocker

SOS was the absolute star of the night for the AFL. If this was his last draft, he left it all out on the field.

Almost the perfect draft by SOS, sure we wanted De Koning, and just made the mistake of trading too early before seeing if Geelong took him, should have waited another 2 minutes.

Took a backup choice, but was not our first choice, could have kept later pick and maybe bundled with our next one to move around etc.

My perfect round was Kemp and Robertson, which I was almost sure SOS had pulled off - was praising him out aloud (seems I, like SoS went a little early as well).....

Oh well, we will just have to do the best with what we got !

Philp is a 187cm balanced mid with extreme speed and acceleration that allows him to erupt out of stoppages and into clear air.

That's a very good netting for the Adelaide pick. It just is.

Personally I would have picked Robertson.
Average kick or not, that kid is a footballer first, athlete second, and he's a damned good athlete.

I think a lot of teams will regret overlooking him and he will lead his new club as captain within 5 years. Massive team player. I also would have picked Dow instead of Philp but what the hell do I know.
