So speed and footskills as a priority? That was our glaring needs after all

Not concerned with the perceived notion of needing small forwards

Yeah, I think you may have mentioned that once or twice before :)

We needed speed in the backline and around the ground.
We also needed goal-kickers as otherwsie we may not have prioritised Papley, had not taken Betts and may not have had interest in Butler and Martin may not have been as much of a need, otherwise.
This is not hard to understand. We needed goal-kickers.

EDIT: This is what SOS said about Martin just before - “He will strengthen our forward line"

Harks, we also targetted Cogs, got Newnes and again perhaps Papley also ticked the speed/foot skills box?

Pretty sure if the likes of Whitfield etc was interested in leaving this year, sure we may have made an offer, in fact I believe we inquired

Love the speedy & highly skilled players we've picked up
We are a freaken fast team now!

What a great off-season, and we've kept 2020 picks pretty much intact!

Great job SOS & co - don't go SOS!
BTW - that's how you trade hold your nerve and get Martin in PSD, and Honey as a rookie
So Philp must be really highly rated :D

Blaine Boekhorst has nominated himself for the draft....
So has DVR :O Lobbe / Schu / Deluca / JGM also have apparently, can't see any of them getting another gig, possibly Deluca?

Pretty sure they stay on the draft nominations for a certain number of years without them nominating (anyone who has nominated before and also those been delisted)

Okay, Honey's highlights look pretty good, powerful kid.

Phillips looks like a Finbar-esque acquisition, lanky athletic kid with good skills, but I'm fine with that for a second round rookie selection.
Agree powerful looking player for someone who has only turned 18 (honey) mid October

So looks like the general theme of the draft was pace, toughness and midfield ability which I'm very keen on.

Not sure some of our current listed mids have this so pressure is on them as I can see us eventually looking to trade players out.

They seem a good group and that extra pace and attack on the game should make interesting watching for our reserves and later seniors.

Sets us up for the long haul I feel after this. Certainly feeling easier about our midfield.

It’s an interesting one because on one hand we absolutely did but if Serong made it to 9 then we wouldn’t have.
Most of our picks seem explosive and quick more so then great on the spread???

The Age have a story saying that Carlton had an deal with the cows to trade next year's second and our pick 9 for their pick 6 to get Young. However when the time came cows requested our next year's first and SOS told them where to go and went to plan b which netted us Kemp and Philp.

Interesting. That's the second time (Gibbs) that we've had a 'misunderstanding' with Adelaide around trades.

From a personal perspective, i've been on record for months saying the Champs were the lowest quality Champs i've seen in a fair while. So on that basis, i can't be disappointed with picking up the guy i rated No.1 coming out of them(Kemp) before he did his knee a week later. And then picking 2 guys (Philp and Ramsey) who didn't play Champs.

I don't know if Philp or Ramsey will make it, but i reckon there are some overhyped Champs players this year imo.

Did hurt a touch to see 3 of my favorites in Dev, Williams and Schoenberg go so soon after our 2nd pick, but i fully acknowledge we need speed options on our list and Philp is potentially an explosive type.

It was another fun buildup with lots of fun and interesting and knowledgable participants here and SOS goes out leaving a list of quality and quantity anyone bar GWS would drool over.

Over to Teague and AR and L.Power.
Well said TW our list is stacked with talent like never before, well since the early 80s anyway or the 95 team, Sos has set us up for a sustained run at the flag in years to come with a methodical and well thought out strategy that has seen us build all areas of the ground over the last 4 years, he couldn’t have done much more and if you look at where he started it is the most extensive rebuild in the history of the modern game and as you say it is now up to Teague, Power and Russell to utilise the great hand SOS has dealt them to deliver us back to whence we came at the top of the AFL ladder. 👍🏽

Happy with Honey and Phillips
Honey looks like an upgrade Polson and Phillips reminds me of Lappin.

With Kemp likely not playing this year I hope Webb gets a shot on our list.
