I noticed this article in both AFL papers

.

In it they have a whinge to the effect that GA's leaving them so late has meant they were unprepared for trade week. They go on to say that they thought the chances of him going were, in their mind, 50/50, "Balme said Geelong "really didn't know" what the midfield champion's decision would be, saying they felt he was "50-50" until the end.".

Now I don't know what their intention was in having this article run but I guess it was to comfort supporters worried at their lack of activity.

On the other hand, another way of looking at this would be to say that the Geelong management thought that there was an equal chance that they would be without GA & his contract & they didn't have detailed plans in place to handle the eventuality. To me this is just terrible management & inexcusable.

If GFC was a public company & the management admitted such incompetence the shareholders would be baying for their blood. Heads would be rolling.

Should someone go ? If so who should go, the list manager, Balme ?
