Special....

No Cup for this win but it was a pizzliing for sure.

Jez 5
Tomma 5
Simmo 2

Missing some key parts and covered it really really well.

Saw the Flag get unrolled and a good ceremony with Anzac day.

Puts us 3-3 and gives us some whopping % going into Rd 7

Hard to pick a passenger tonight - and we missed several gettable goals at the end so it could have been even worse.

PFD, Close, Miers, SAV - yes SAV in the best - Even Bowes getting better over time

Great win and onto next week

Oh.. and Jezza worth ever bit of the 3 x Rd1 picks.

not to mention we did it without Stengle, Stanley, Jack Henry...

That was thoroughly entertaining football from our mob tonight, a four quarter effort against a decent albeit injury-hit club - great way to celebrate the unfurling of the Premiership flag at home.

Tonight brought to mind some of our better form of 2022, there were passages of play where the Cats looked precision-drilled and completely in synch.

Sydney looked seriously spooked at times, Geelong's pressure was relentless and very disciplined. At our very best we execute tackle after tackle without infringing, not many teams can withstand that type of interrogation.

Jack Bowes had a slow-ish start to the year, which coincided with some putrid form from the team as a whole. But he's steadily turned it around and tonight he looked very comfortable, even busting out a nice dummy kick deep in defense to buy himself some extra time.
Sam Simpson's return was seamless, could have ended up with 4 goals, looked classy nonetheless.
Cam Guthrie is possibly the only player not quite humming at the moment; he's looked down on touch all through our first 6 games and again this evening he wasn't at his sharpest despite finishing with a credible 25 touches. Made way for Knevitt in the last quarter, great to see the big goofball out there, I am interested to see what he might be capable of.

Good effort for De Koning to put in a part-time shift in the ruck, he had a good crack.
Gryan Miers faded a bit as the game went on but he was brilliant early when we were establishing our dominance.

Sydney had no key defenders to speak of and our forward line looked menacing all night.
The Swans will have some scars from that.

5 - Patrick Dangerfield - great game from the skipper, didn't try to do too much, brought his teammates into the game, and won centre clearances galore.
4 - Mark Blicavs - rucked well enough but it was his follow-up efforts with the ball on the deck that lead to our centre square dominance.
3 - Tom Hawkins - a typical late-career Tom Hawkins game; the fulcrum in attack, kicked well and looked back to his imperious best.
2 - Gryan Miers - hunted the ball early in the game and used it cleverly.
1 - Jeremy Cameron - finishing ability was sublime as usual.

"Yeah but they had a few out..."

FFS you don't lose games by 100pts because you have a couple out. We were missing three premiership players, including an All-Australian and our number one ruckman.

The Swans just had no answers. What a belting.

Collingwood 'the team to beat' for beating us with 5 defenders out
Geelong 'cooked' for losing to Carlton by 8 points with 4 defenders out
Geelong 'haven't beaten anyone yet' for belting Sydney despite having 4 out

Good win- handy percentage. Working our way back very nicely but long way to go and better opposition to face. Everyone picking up. Liking O’connors improving footy, sav too. Good to see Simpson back.

One of Mark O'Connor's best games. He is starting to look at home on the football field.

Max looked like he was starting to believe he is an elite player at stages tonight.
Some really good chains he was involved in where he'd start the movement and then keep working down the whole ground being involved while his opponent was tonguing it 50m behind him
