I thought the Sun's midfield battled manfully and didn't lower their colors overall, but the Cats' defense and forwards just played the conditions better. Man, imagine if we could get Rowell in our midfield.

Look at this absolute campaigner King trying to get Stewart suspended during the port GWS half time.

**** I hate the guy, sad twisted loser that can’t be professional enough to get past his hatred of the Cats.

It's Jay Clark. Journo. He's an idiot.
What makes him an idiot? When I have watched him in panel shows he comes across as a genuinely good person, fair and balanced.

Of all the people in the footy journalism industry, I expect he would be one of the least likely to be an idiot.

I love being of the age where I can say, "In my day ..."

In my day, Anderson would have seen Stewart coming and they would have bumped into each other then competed for the ball.

In "protecting" players, we're also encouraging them to play with fire. They're standing in front of bullets and expecting the bullet to go around them. Protect the head? Sure - but you protect yourself as well.

In my day Anderson would have been off to hospital in that scenario. All in brawl to follow.

I'm glad the game has tidied up but if Stewart goes then I do not know what to say.

Great win. I was very impressed with Holmes and Stengel's games. Everyone did their job. The Cats showed the physicality we saw in Round 1 against Freo. Their pressure rating was over 200 every quarter. I agreed with Max when he said the Catters haven't even hit their straps yet, which is scary for the rest of the comp. Another coaching masterclass from Scotty and his team.

Rowell was spotted having a cuppa it Torquay with a few Cats players yesterday

Holmes playing a game like that in wet weather given he is an outside runner. Just massive. Had a slow start to the season but he has been huge last couple of weeks

Much to the Geelong Cat fans delight Seeds: Holmes is fast becoming far more than an outside runner/player and like you say Seeds: with today's wet weather conditions and Gold Coasts tough and contested midfield, that was a real test for him. So he's definitely taking his game to new levels with his 'huge game today' and with his partner in crime Bailey Smith pretty much playing the same type of football means come finals time the 'dash bros' are going to be the most dynamic duo in the AFL by a fair margin.... and GO CATS !!!

Interesting take, and not without some element of truth.
A contrasting argument could be that most of these guys have come through the ranks from an early age and would have had had to deal with a bit of biffo on the way to their afl career so must have some degree of self preservation ‘baked in’
Unless you are implying they are actively taking advantage of the tiggy touchwood rules that are pervading the game of late and assuming the opponent will pull out of the imminent collision

Because if you choose to bump it's the outcome thats important.
He went back on with 7 minutes to go, but who knows. He might be under concussion protocol now.

I concussed myself 4 weeks ago and it took me hours to realise it.
And finally, I just dont trust them.
Sounds like your still concussed if you think he will get rubbed out for that.

Stewart didn’t even get his head ..he hit the ribs/shoulder area …he hit his head on the ground and was winded

Stewart can’t be responsible for gravity

None of that, no.

But I think coming up through junior footy these days you learn more about zones than you do about bracing for contact.

I didn’t think he was trying to get him suspended at all. He said he shouldn’t get suspended and agreed it was madness to even be discussing it but system is unclear

He’s right when he says if he gets him in the head that’s 4 plus and a concussion.
You can’t risk it really.

It was a brilliant hit but **** it’s risky in this day and age. Such a fine line.

What happened to baz pre game? Was it an actual injury
Hamstring tightness he had it in the last qtr the other week and there’s been concerns with his shin the last few weeks too

That’s for the muppet as well who said he didn’t want to get his hair wet

More than just a couple of weeks.

Holmes had two difficult games early on through tags (St Kilda and Melbourne). Besides that he's been very good. The Carlton game is the only other one I recall below that level.

This will be the 7th game he's picked up coaches votes in.

Not one for umpire bashing but it felt as if we got a rough ride. What was that 50 that wasn’t in the first quarter?
If you're thinking of the one where our player was tipped over after the free was given, I may be wrong but I think it was a bit of a quirk of the rules more than anything. The way I read it was: we got the free, then we took the advantage, then the incident happened which then couldn't be given 50 (because we'd already played on - so was given a down the field free.. which unfortunately in this case wasn't far away. So, not great, but not the umps fault as such.

Bringing Smith in for probably Clohesy sees that team tonight at pretty much full strength. Injuries aside, I’m not sure Bowes replaces Mullin? Maybe he does. Duncan doing enough to vindicate his selection albeit he will require management throughout the season. Ollie Henry? He’s best 22 in his best form but although he’s handy for a goal or two each week he’s not been doing much else. Martin has the ability to play both ends which will appeal.
