Where are the Cups doubles on the TAB site?

Don't tell me they've scrapped them, or are they hiding on this bloody new website?

They dont put up prices for doubles very often. Just use the multibet function and create your own.

Obviously i like the overseas horses this year!

I remember you liked the overseas horses last year too.

In fact, you talked me out of backing Maykbe Diva in the Melbourne Cup and I followed your suggestion to back Eye Popper. :thumbsd: :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

Same as me, only I'm going for Yeats in the MC.

I think that Pop Rock is better than Eye Popper, and will benefit from having D.Oliver on board instead of a crazy Japanese jockey who rides like the track is a 5 lane highway.

Grey Swallow I don't know too much about, but I know this: Yeats has taken on the best of European stayers and beaten them out of sight. He has won 2 mile & up Grp 1 races by 5 lengths. He likes hard tracks too.

Yeah but i didn't know they were going to doctor the track for MD by presenting it as dead when it was 30degs and not a drop of rain for 3 days running.

The track preparation wasn't responsible for her magnificent performance. You have to admit now that the Diva is a legend and you were wrong in bagging her last year!

Bigfooty hasn't deleted any posts since last year, so you'll have no problem linking just ONE POST where i bagged Makybe Diva.

I don't count having two feet planted on the ground and being able to have a level headed perspective of things as bagging her. She was a great horse, but i've definitely seen better sprinters, milers, and wfa middle distance horses in my time. She's up with the best stayers, but in my eyes her acheivements in the cup are slightly tainted by her being favourably treated by both the handicappers and the track managers at Flemington. Northerly never even contested a race further than 2400 yet he got given 60kg in the cup, MD wins two cups plus a sydney cup and gets 58kg, makes sense no?

Im with you Deej, she was pitchforked in.

Glad she was & glad she ran otherwise On A Jeune would have won & my MC theory wouldnt look quite as good.

I've found some of your quotes. I would say that if you weren't bagging her, you definitely weren't showing a lot of respect to the great mare!

In fact, I'm still not even convinced she's the best horse in the country. I still think that title belongs to Elvstroem.

In Japan Eye Popper beat Makybe Diva by 3.5 lengths carrying 58, whilst MD had 56, that's 2kg more over her pet distance 3200m and he still beat her. Now he's in the Cup with 54, whilst MD carries 58, that's a 6kg turnaround for beating her. All Popper needs is a dry track and it's goodnight Diva.

I don't write horse novels, i don't make diva masks, and i'm not in the marketing department for channel 7, the VRC, or Freedman Racing, so i have no vested interest in pumping up her tyres to mythical proportions in order to sell a paper, get another punter through the turnstiles, or justify my job. I am a realist and i have respect for the deeds of horses gone by, and i do not have a memory like a siv. I definitely don't like reading/hearing people talk sh#t about how good this horse is, how good that horse is, how good anything australian is compared to anything around the world or from another day gone by. Makybe Diva hasn't even matched the deeds of Rising Fast or Rain Lover, let alone Kingston Town, Tulloch or Phar Lap.

Makybe Diva has a MILE to go before she equals let alone betters Rising Fast's record in 1954. He also carried a fair bit more weight in most of his runs than she has had to carry.

Translated to, Deej was not a makybe diva nuthugger.

Not a single word of exaggeration or emotive gasbagging in anything i wrote. All facts. Would write the same thing today and if i knew they weren't going to doctor the track for MD i'd probably still be backing eye popper.

In my opinion, there is absolutely no way Eye Popper would have beaten MD in last year's Melbourne Cup regardless of the state of the track.

I heard Lee Freedman interviewed before the Cup and he said to totally disregard MD's Japan form because she hadn't travelled over there well and she was nowhere near ready like she was for the Melbourne Cup.

If only I had listened to him and backed the great mare!!

You may be right, but we'll never know for sure because the track was doctored for her and Eye Popper was uncomfortable on anything other than genuine good going. Jap trainer was livid after the cup about the excessive track watering, they reckon it cost EP any chance in the race, did you know that? Or do you only listen to freedman?

A couple of weeks ago I had a Cox Plate/Melbourne Cup double of Grey Swallow/Aznavour. Was paying 8000/1.

Aznavour won't get a run now, though.

She was a great horse, but way overrated.

Overrated? How many horses have won three Melbourne Cups in a row!?

There can be no arguing. An absolute champion and legend of the turf. One of (if not) the best ever.
