Going along tommorow for the 3rd year in a row and can't wait. Only won on 2 short price fav's last year (Activation and Astronomia) and the year before did nothing except for load up on the mighty Elvis.

Hopefully will grab a couple more tommorow though, think the Caulfield track is still swooper friendly, which Im a big fan of backing ;)

Race 1: One thing I learnt last year is that the Sydney 3YO are generally better than the Melb crop. Based on this, 4 Mute would be my top pick after a nice run behind Gold Edition/Reigning last start who are Sydney guns. Good value on the tote. 1 Fun in Flight next up, she too has been close to some good Melbourne fillies in lead up races and the extra distance should suit. Hard to split these two. 3 Maha Chakri has been consistently decent, and Williams/Hayes seem to have a mortgage on the first race each week. So I won't be suprised if she wins, which is likely, cos I won't be on her! Tri/First Four including the above.

Race 2: 9 Art House comes off a couple of maiden race runs at the Nursery of Champions Bendigo and has big wraps - bit of hype about. Keen to watch the betting on him. 4 Enemy of Average was very dissapointing last start yet still put in some ripping sectionals suggesting perhaps the ride wasn't the best (why else is Boss aboard and not Williams?)
1 Blue Lago plugged away behind Guineas winner Wonderful World last start so should be thereabouts and fill in the placings. Like the above as the main picks in a Tri/First Four.

Race 3: I noted on here 4 Sefrah's run when it won its maiden after getting well back and absolutely thundering home in the last 1500 m making up a good 5 lengths. It appears to be the type of horse (Zabeel blood!) who will appreciate the extra disance and this track. Im tipping Williams will be angry too ;) Should win. 1 Amitola wasn't far off Cheeky Choice last start and looks to be improving with more ground. Hawkes/Beadman.
14 Lady Gracious is only a maiden and coming from no where but is on the up, has good blood, has a good trainer and jockey aboard. Bit of value.

Race 4: 6 Sir Lago - ignore the one crap run out of 6 and he's been excellent. Last start didn't have a lot of luck and just missed. Great value, a bit EW for me in a tough tough race. 5 Ankh Morpork has been putting in great Derby trial runs every outing and is one to blackbook. Will need a well timed run to win, is a bit short. 4 Egomaniac comes over from WA with an impressive record - may find this a teeny bit too short though.

Race 5: 2 Shadoways will be a popular pick on course as usual, lets just hope last race didn't break his heart chasing that freak FnF. He'll come with a big run again I bet. 8 Queen of the Hill is right in this back to a more suitable distance. 9 Biscayne Bay is one to watch trained by Paul Perry who is the master with sprinters

Race 6: Its been a while but I feel 1 Perfectly Ready has a race which will suit, and at odds too. 12 Danasierra is the smokey from Sydney, one of few horses to push Fast n Famous to the limit. 3 Bentley Biscuit to round it out..sorry again Gai. Chuck in 7 Royal Ida and 10 Roubechon and youre a show for a decent paying First Four I feel ;)

Race 7: Some days on the punt when youre down, one will just leap out of you from the form guide after a bit of analysis. I backed this mare last year on Caulfield Cup day and again the other week at Flemington after it struck me as a real value runner. Last year it was average, 2 weeks back it was amazing. 2 Divine Madonna bet of the day if it can reel off a closing 200m like that again and come from last to swallow them up. 16 Absolute Dream is the main danger, 10 Sorenstam is a great each way bet. 3 Dea and 4 Open Cut for the multiples.

Race 8: What a relief I have something I can back with a little conviction. 20 Zipping is primed for this, a well timed run with Boss aboard here he should win. 5 Our Smoking Joe is all heart and will be boxing on at the finish again. 6 Headturner is due to fire his first warning shot before the Melbourne Cup..this is his Prelim Final. 3 Railings will be sniffing his butt as usual (they have been finishing side by side all prep!) and 17 Sphenophyta will be in it for a long way.

Race 9: A nice First Four pick race here, 4 Show Barry is at massive overs. 3 Polar Bear should be top 2, 6 Maybe Better 8 Rubijon and 10 Temple Hills into the multiples. I left Spinney out, as it is B Grade IMO.

Race 10: Struggle to find anything that will beat 1 Megadeal. 3 Crepe De Chine or 4 Sugarbomb maybe? If you have a spare $5 at the end of the day after all this chuck it on the place 7 Xaaranthe...she always gives an honest run and is at odds.

Good luck!

It's over 2000 metres and it won it's last two starts over 2200 and 2100. Not sure what his strike rate is when Harvey comes to Melbourne, but I might have a few $ on it.

I'm having a quiet day, preparing to go for it starting next week but I like a few.

Race 4 - Tip The Dip - Had no luck at the valley and I'm prepared to forgive
poor MV form. Trainer has a history of coming over to Melbourne and taking home the spoils with horses like Gold Guru,Dilly Dally and Li Lo Lill in the past. Great value. Watch for Ulfah too, I have left it out as I worry about taking on the males although that didn't bother her last run. Maybe a good boxed trifecta race, 4,5,7,12.

Race 5 - Shadoways - There will be pace to burn and this can have the last shot at them and win. My best.

Race 8 - Zipping and Activation - Will probably back both of these for the win.
I can picture Zipping coming from the clouds.

Race 9 - King of Ashford - Is here for the Sandown Classic and the wraps on it are huge. Am willing to risk the NZ form. Whatever it does it will improve on over further.

My best bet of the day race 4 - #4

After further analysis, I've warmed to Ulfah again! I don't think it is all that strong a race than past years. I'll be on Ulfah and Tip The Dip.

I couldn't resist once they said the money had come. I just got on Pop Rock at $13 with Centrebet.
Also, have $25 on Activation at $9.
Have jumped off Zipping who they have at $8, you can get around $14 at the tab but I don't have money in that account! Now, you watch Zipping win. :o

You know its a biased track when Beadman wins 3 races on a carnival day.
