His delisting came as a great surprise to most. Many of the VFL watchers rated him a good ruck propect (presently better than Witts) and with strong hands in the forward line.

Some have alluded to attitude problems and a bit too free with abusing team-mates. I'm not a VFL watcher, but I find it hard to imagine he could be any worse than Heath Shaw.

Sorry to post this in this thread guys. What can you tell me about Jonathon Ceglar? He is training with us at the moment. Was he impressive in the VFL this year?

Thanks! :)

Oh, and a final thing ...

Since our recruitment of Grundy, most of the folks around here will have forgotten who Ceglar was ;)

Ceglar was further advanced than our other young prospects as far as ruck technique goes and was a capable forward option. However he lacked both size and mobility, meaning by the time he puts the requisite weight on to play at AFL level he would likely be treacle. He has a serviceable but awkward-looking kicking action, lacks presence, and has a questionable attitude. We wish Cegs all the best.

I wouldn't necessarily say he had a useful able attitude, although he didn't ever really out on considerable size.

I wish him luck though, he is handy depth.

I never saw it with Ceglar and having watched a number of VFL games this year I personally can't understand how some had him ahead of Witts, each to their own I guess, but I can understand why the Hawks would be into him. With a few years of development behind him, concerns over Bailey long term and Hale pushing 30 it would be an ok move.

I would look at Ceglar before Cameron Wood.
Not an avid VFL watcher but others on this thread know him better. All the best to him

He was rated highly. We really saw him as the kind of guy who could play forward and also ruck. Rumoured to have attitude issues although I'm just going off what others say. He never set the world on fire at VFL, but the ability is there.

Needs to put on some size and improve his kicking for goal. Probably didn't get a good enough run in the ruck either with Wood and Witts filling those roles. So he is a relative unknown.

I personally don't see it. BUt he is an impressive looking athlete in that he has size, mobility and good hands. But just whether he can put it all together. Worth a rookie spot without doubt...but I don't think he'll ever be a pure ruckman and that's probably what the Hawks need more considering you already have Hale and Roughead.

Has talent, but also has a shit attitude. It's the reason we delisted him.

Doesn't work hard enough, and apparently hated my MANY at the club.

Wow so we have a go at Caro for lame rumours, innuendo and lies then you come out and say this. Hated by many? Didn't work hard enough? Shit attitude? Didn't know you were apart of the inner sanctum at Collingwood... Think before you type such utter rubbish with authority.

I posted only days (or maybe about a week?) before he was deslited, that he probably wouldn't be around long at Collingwood.

My source told me he wasn't liked much at Collingwood, and that his attitude was shit.

Days later, he was deslited. Coincidence? No.

By the way, Caro isn't wrong. Caro's problem is being a journalist writing about it without any hard proof. Most people "know" Swan is a party boy in more ways than one. But "knowing" is different to having real world proof.

I know it really is off topic but I couldn't agree more with this. What Caro is writing on is 100% relevant and worthy of attention it's just the manner in which she's undertaken it that leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

To single out players and clubs without any proof or even quotes would be considered poor form even if it was your bog standard journalist let alone the chief football writer of the states second biggest newspaper!

Good luck to Ceglar, he was better than Witts in the VFL for most of last year, but that's more to do with him having a year or two extra development (and age) on Jarrod than anything else.

He may develop into a handy backup forward for a lower team, but I wouldn't be putting money on it.

I think he was one of those beanpoles that Collingwood like to recruit every so often as a "ruckman".

Well if he has a bad attidude then he probably won't last long on our list if we pick him up, but the good thing about him is that he is 21 and has plenty of upside say compared to Johnson 28, Skipper 28, McCauley 26 and Pattison 26 who were all delisted after only one year on our list. I hope he can at least show something seems like a long term player rather then a short term fix. I reckon the Club sees something in him beyond 2013, hence why we have targeted a young ruckman, rather then a ready made one.

Tall skinny played VFL 21 200 cm 90 kg
Rumoured to have a bad attitude. Note: that is a BF rumour take that however you like
Some players need the sacking to change their attitude

Ceglar feels like such a waste of a decent draft pick to me. However i suppose we also got krak and if he stays injury free this year, that helps our premiership aspirations massively. Our second most important forward behind Cloke.

Sorry this thread about Ceglar.

He seems to have upside buddy, hopefully your mob can unlock it and you get good value - I for one hate to see a wasted talent and hope all our guys do well when they leave us.

Yeah hopefully if we pick him up, he can grab his opportunity with both hands. Who knows, if he makes his debut and plays well he might stay in the team & kick start his career. With Bailey injury prone and Hale approching 29, there might be a chance for him in the senior team. :)

Yes we all need some youngsters coming through, we've been fortunate to pick up Grundy and Hudson to coach/mentor both Grundy and Witts so I'm bloody happy with our direction.
