Ch 7 Harvey- Headland a chance this week

Amazing what a difference a couple of wins does.3 weeks age when you guys were getting belted, downhill Des was on one leg.
You win a couple and suddenly a miracle cure and downhill is asking "when do I play".Worse than that Harvey is thinking about dropping someone for Des.

3 weeks ago Headland was going to be out for another 3 weeks.

I'd expect him to spend some time in WAFL first, however surely Thornton is the first out.

Murphy I agree isn't far behind, but Ballantyne/Mayne will be replacing him shortly.

If Albino keeps playing the way he is atm, no way he'll be dropped. And rightly so. He's kicked some very important goals for us.
Des surely must play in the WAFL first, at least for 3 weeks. After that, if he dominates WAFL he can come back. Our youngsters will need a break as well, I can't see Hill and Suban play all 22 games straight.

Des has to come back through the WAFL. Currently he has no pre-season, no form and no match fitness. He played two games at the send of the season for us last year and was completely out of touch. Even discounting earning his spot, at least get some games into his legs.

I realise some would prefer Headland come into the team, but If Murphy and Thornton keep improving and growing in confidence as they are, and we can get up a few more wins, surely they'll have some trade value at the end of the year if we still want to move them on.

I didnt like what i saw from Des round 22 last year against the pies when he last returned from long term injury. I was at the game in the thick of the pies crowd when Davis ripped the ball off of him and kicked goal of the year right in front of my face. For the whole game, he looked unfit and out of touch. He needs to earn his spot now.

The team has set a standard. Only a handful of players deserve to be selected straight up...he isnt one of them. But, that being said, when he is match fit he will be a very valuable weapon kicking a goal on the run from 50.:thumbsu:

Last year when Des was out with an injury for a fair whack of the season the medicos brought him back slowly, first through Subi Ressies and then the Subi League squad.

Surely Harves meant that Des'd b back playing for Subi this week and by playing at Subi he meant the club not the ground. Like it or not, if Des goes back and has a good 2 or 3 weeks he'll be back in the side, and if he can stay injury free it'll be a big plus.

For those who say he hasnt earnt his place in the team yet, you're right. But I think he definately deserves a chance to have a decent crack at it, if anyone saw what Hase said on the news about Des's work rate over the last two years you'd agree.

Now the teams are out, I reckon there is a fair chance he will play. Why name him as an emergency and not play him in the WAFL to get some match fitness unless there is a plan B to put him into the squad?

Subiaco play on Saturday. If Headland doesn't line up for Fremantle tomorrow night, there is nothing stopping him from playing WAFL on Saturday.

Doh! Forgot we were playing Friday night - it's a bit of a rarity.

Gee, one sleep to go. This is a really big game for us and I hope we can pull it off, though our history of winning the important games isn't great :(

We have an excellent record at home against the reigning premiers.

The only ones We have dropped were against WC (1995 , 2007) and Geelong by 1 point last year.

I remember beating Carlton in '96 to end their winning streak, when they were reigning premiers. They looked invincible at the time and we played a blinder. Good call Ripper! :thumbsu:

Fantastic game that one , we played like men possessed.

It seems that our grand final really is and always has been against the reigning premiers, despite the derby hype.

Heres another stat , it seems when we miss the reigning premier at home , we beat them the first time they come here.

E.g.
North 1998 , 2003 (premiers 1996 & 1999)
Bombres 2002 (premiers 2000 )
Sydney 2009

And our record against the runners up is pretty good as well.

Just historically been a problem with the bottom 4 teams

I am hoping to see a sell out at Subi tonight.

Just got me 50 inch plasma delivered yesterday so I would love to see the Purple Haze glowing on the screen thanks very much!.

If you are in two minds about going, bloody go. Buy a scarf and get behind the lads will be one of the games of the season imo.

GO FREO:thumbsu::thumbsu:

I agree.... Get down there all who can and dress in your purple get up.... our home crowd should be worth about 4 goals i reckon. Due to a rather 'fudged' schedule I cannot make it. :thumbsd: Which means I have to wait until 8.30pm for it to come on tv!!!!! But I will resist all temtations to check the score beforehand and will be dressed in my purple haze jumper, bundy in one hand and scarf in the other.

CMON FREOOOOOOO!!!!
