Ch 7 Harvey- Headland a chance this week

I think Hinkley has looked good and would like to keep him . I dont see Headland as part of this team moving forward. Hasn't really played since rnd 4 last year. The 2 games at the end of the season he didnt look good.

Murphy is getting better with each game as his confidence improves. He should be a harder match-up for the Hawks especially with Pav or Elvis going forward. The composure in his kicking last Saturday settled the younger players and was a key factor in our win. I'd rather see the ball in his hands in the forward line then Pav's ATM, especially with Pav doing some job sharing in the middle.

Pratt has a lot to offer and I hope he will hold his spot. The reason we are doing so well is that the young fella's are having a red hot go. If one of them get's dropped for the wrong reasons it will make the others feel more accountable to their mistakes and take less chances. Maybe swap for De Boer, because whilst he hasn't really done anything wrong, the confidence from dominating again at WAFL for a week or 2 in the midfield, we could see him as a more permanent sidekick in the middle with Haze.

I would rather Headland earn his spot, then drop any of last weeks squad. They're hunting in packs, moving the ball really quick and looking out for each other. I'm not sure if Headland would put on the same amount of defensive pressure as the man he replaces, and most likely will give away a few yards. I'm sure his silky disposal would be welcome, but the pace and carry is doing it for us at the moment.

Arghhh Why should Headland have special treatment to come back into the team everyone else has had to work for there spot he should have to do the same.

As stated before Hase was seen as an outside prospect. Des is also class, love him or not so much, this fella can win a game.

Hase atleast did a preseason and pretty sure he played a pre season game or 2 showing he is ready.
Headland hasnt done much for a year there is no way he should come straight back into the game without doing something in WAFL first.

I wouldnt even bring Pav straight back into the team if he was in the same situation as headland.
After such a long break needs atleast a few quarters in wafl minimum

There are some serious issues if Headland can come back in straight away with no WAFL games, whilst Broughton who was close to BOG with 25 touches misses out, if we need a Subi player then it should be Broughton, reward form ffs.

I think it is probably Harvey playing games but if not it would be a tough decision to leave one of the guys out for Des. Solomon perhaps (was very ordinary in our early games for a senior player), Solly though adds hardness at the contested ball.

Whatever decision the MC make you have to back them in ATM. People seem to forget quickly that in the preseason games last year he was easily our best midfielder. In addition to his skill he had found a hard edge and consistency as well that was lacking before - he was hungry up until his injury.

Much as I admire Dessie, geez I'll be disappointed if we drop one of the younguns just to let him waltz back in - would seem to undermine the spirit, passion and hard work ideal we are trying to build in our squad. The kind of treatment I think Greednock thought he was entitled to...

Last weekend was his best game for the year (first time i've seen him throw his body around a bit)
He has done it in other games this year as well.

There is no way Headland should come in, hopefully Harvey is reading and he can follow our advise like he has on other issues ;)

After playing so well last week and we match up pretty well this week you need to back in and reward the players again this week.

Des needs to get thru a game maybe two in the WAFL and prove he can withstand the rigors of playing firstly and then prove hes playing well enough to deserve it.

If Headland comes in straight away, despite doing nothing for over a year, and having limited preseason, then this club is going nowhere.

If he plays, my bet is he'll only get 6 touches and we'll lose.

There is no way he'll come straight in. Harvey's playing games. Given however that Des was leading our I50's and probably the cleanest deliverer to our forwards before he was injured, I'm sure he'll be considered in a couple of weeks if anyone in the 22 is not pulling their weight.

Do people remember that game late last year when he returned after a lengthy absence? He could barely run 20m before he was knackered and had about 5 possessions. It mght have been the Collingwood match which we still won, but his match fitness would be a liability. I would think 2-3 weeks absolute minimum for Subiaco.

Must show form and fitness for atleast 2 weeks in the WAFL before being considered for an AFL recall.

I`d imagine Scott Watters won`t even play him in the Subi side until he plays a game in Reserves first.

Des is a line breaker with top line skills but no one deserves to walk straight into the team.

I agree it's a smoke screen, if there is a change it will be IN: Broughton, OUT Pratt (He has had a taste and will get another chance with good WAFL form)

I'll stand corrected if anyone on the playing list has showed as much passion for the club as Haselby has, McManus included (although I love this guy and his missus for their jaunts down south). I just watched the highlights and the pictures thank to PupleBlood29 of him singing the song couple with his devotion for Matthew Pavlich we amazing.
I love Pav but geez his best mate has got a deep yearning for this club to go forward. I reckon he's a keeper.
My prediction- Haselby to be Fremantles innagrual premiership coah. F^%$kn champion that bloke. We must keep him at the club post his career.

hear hear. I agree with every word, no doubt.

Hasleby wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to FFC and has overtaken McManus as the player who shows the most raw emotion in his love for the club. God I love Hase!

Headland a chance to play in the seniors at Subi this week. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays Ressies. The guy hasn't played for a year, there is no way he will be playing for Freo this week.
No changes this week unless it's due to injury!:thumbsu:

Ok guys dont make fun of me but this is what happened:
On Monday morning I had wisdome teeth removed. Fair 2 say Im on some wacked out drugs atm for the pain etc. Last nite I dreamt that I bumped into Des at Freo oval. I asked him when we could expect him back, he said about 2 weeks after i play in the wafl and get some form.

Im not on the drugs that killed River Phoniex but hey go the voodoo!

Out Murphy In Headland.

Same with you and shiny. I think playing as a forward could be a good way to ease him back. However I would prefer to see him in the WAFL for a game or three first.

I just can't agree with the posters who think "no change". If the selection committee see a change that makes the side stronger or better matched up against an opponent, do it. Nothing wrong with having 25+ players competing for 22 spots, and not knowing if it is there for them next week or not.

I think somepeople are gettinga bit ahead of themselves. Everything Harvey has done has been for the DEVELOPEMENT of the team. He has stuck to his guns in spite of copping a fair whack and I can't see him deviating now. The wins are without a doubt the goal but more as a bonus to the developement (there's that word again) for long term success, hence play the young guys and back them in. Des will need to fit the team not the team fit Des.

Des must play the WAFL first. Who knows how that leg will hold up, he hadnt played any minutes all year whether thats pre-season or WAFL. He is Zero chance of playing this week for Fremantle. Be as step backwards if he replaced anyone in the 22 after the past 3 weeks. Des must earn his spot back.

Im sure I heard Harves say on 7 that Des is coming back in via the WAFL...

he said something like "watch out for Des at Subi this week" to Basil.
Think the OP may have mis-heard what he said.
Also on 10 they said Des would be playing WAFL this week.

If i'm wrong and Des does play i'll be fuming! needs at least a couple of weeks in the WAFL before he is even considered.

Amazing what a difference a couple of wins does.3 weeks age when you guys were getting belted, downhill Des was on one leg.
You win a couple and suddenly a miracle cure and downhill is asking "when do I play".Worse than that Harvey is thinking about dropping someone for Des.
