PP) Melbourne - Tom Scully
1) Melbourne - Jack Trengove
2) Richmond - Anthony Morabito
3) Fremantle - John Butcher
4) North Melbourne - Dustin Martin
5) Sydney - Gary Rohan
6) West Coast - Kane Lucas
7) Port - Daniel Talia
8) Hawthorn - Koby Stevens
9) Essendon - Luke Tapscott
10) Carlton - Matthew Panos
11) Brisbane - Nathan Vardy
12) Adelaide - Ben Cunnington
13) Collingwood - Andrew Moore
14) Bulldogs - Jack Fitzpatrick
15) Geelong - Allen Christensen
16) St Kilda - Jordan Gysberts

Rather than go through and explain every pick, i'll try and sum up a few things here;

  1. Previously I didn't see Melbourne as grabbing two midfielders with their first two picks. However with Trengove on fire, and Butcher falling away a bit, I can't see them going past the clear two best prospects in the draft.
  2. Fremantle would love to get Morabito i'm sure, but Richmond would be out of their minds to pass him up.
  3. There is a lot to like about Dustin Martin at pick 5 for North Melbourne, and he'd be a great addition to their young engine room of Ziebell, Swallow and Anthony.
  4. I was suprised myself to see Koby Stevens slipping to 8th, as a month ago I had him as a top 5 pick perhaps, but I think clubs above them will draft for specific needs.
  5. I still have a feeling Sydney will strongly look at Panos, but have a feeling a player as exciting as Rohan would be too good to pass up at their pick.
  6. Essendon are getting a great young kid in Tapscott at their pick. He has perhaps the best kick in the first round, but just needs to work on his speed and awareness a bit more. At the moment he can be quite one-dimensional, but if developed well, he could be anything.
  7. Vardy to Brisbane is the only pick i'm not totally sure about, as I've heard a few Lions supporters saying they don't need a young ruckman/KPP. However, I can't really see him going to any of the other clubs in the late first round, except maaaaaybe St Kilda.

This is the second version of my draft, and i've tried to incorporate a lot of the feedback I got after my first version, plus what i've heard in the media and seen of the kids myself.
Happy to listen to more feedback and make changes as required :D

Good on you Chadwiko - not a bad effort I reckon. Butcher is interesting, I could see him going no 2 or freefalling down to 7/8.

(I take that compliment back - just noticed you are a Redskins and Celtics fan)!

Pretty close at this stage, but things can change before november.
I think Melbourne will take Butcher at 2. Richmond - Trengrove at 3.

Brisbane will not draft a KPP with it's first round pick especially a ruckman as we have Clark/Leuenberger. It will be used on the best midfielder available. Someone like Luke Tapscott would suit our needs perfectly.

If your going to do a Mock Draft you could at least get the order numbers right..... (not the teams just the Numbers)

Is that want you think or is that what you want to happen?

It's what I think. I don't really mind whichever player we pick. The top 4 all look like guns from the limited vision I have seen of them.

Having watched Melbourne a few times this year, and it stood out yesterday - that you lack the tall spine. You already have a decent midfield and will take Scully to cap it off and will get another decent midfield prospect at pick 18.

You have 2 midfielders from last years draft that have been out injured have you not?

The best KPF won't be there at pick 18 but a decent midfield prospect will be. Watts will need help and may be better suited the CHF. Butcher at FF.
Highly rated Key position players will be as rare as hens teeth for a few years with the compromised drafts.

I'd say it will be a hard decision for Melbourne but you'd think that they'd take the best mid and the best KP player.

I want Butcher or Trengove either i am happy with.

Trengove is a gun, strong bodied just what we need at the moment. With Tambing playing an outside role Trengove can take Tuck's position.

Butcher has been playing injured for alot of the season and has still managed to kick 30 goals and 40 last year, also has been getting double teamed not many KPD are 197cm and with the new rule of chopping arms these days butcher will have a field day.

Great post mate.but i do think north need all those 10 picks to stay awat from the bottom 4 for the next 4 years...

Good one mate. :thumbsu:

I like that you didnt shy away from Richmond taking Morabito at 3 (which Richmond supporters dont seem to like). I have them taking Butcher but I really struggled between him and Morabito - Morabito will be a gun. Hes plays like a slightly shorter Adam Goodes.

Gary Rohan is the other I was tempted to move up to the top 3. I think he has a match winning ability like Morabito that the others up the top dont have.
