It's a tie......Ablett/Bartel tie on 26 to win

the next place was 17 votes..but I forget who it was. I think it was a tie too

Champion Data predict Jimmy picks up 15 votes in the Second half of the season while Gaz only gets 3.

Would be amazing if it happens.

Won't happen like that, semi-decent indicator but that's all it is. I've seen the round-by-round predictions, purely based on Champion Data rankings and there will be many games where the highest game ranking won't get you three votes.

I think both my head, heart and pants would explode simultaneously if that were the case

Champion Data had Ablett on 14 votes last year, & he got 20 Brownlow Votes.

Champion Data Had Bartel on 29 votes last year, & he got 28 Brownlow Votes.

Champion Data Have predicted Ablett and Bartel Tie on 26 votes this year.

Going By Champion Data..... Ablett will recieve 32 Brownlow votes & Bartel will get 25.

if thats true ablett would have 23 votes by round 11...fair effort..

he may be hands down the best player in the comp...but nobodys gonna poll 23 in 11 games.

Round 13 champ.

Personally, I doubt it, but if you look back at those 13 games, he was fairly dominant.

The breakdown can be found here...

Bear in mind they're scoring the finals also so I think after round 22 they have gaz winning with 24 from Jimmy on 22...

Personally, I think Jimmy has it in the bag again..

Sorry, but if you take the Champion Data count seriously you're going to take a big hit come Monday night. Champion Data has Bruce (9) beating Black (8)!!!

I've done a probability analysis of each round and put it into a spreadsheet (happy to share if people want a look) and I can assure everyone that Black will have more than 8 votes by half way.

Champion Data was right last year. Mount a case for why they won't be right this year.

Last year they underestimated Black, it's likely they've done the same again. Still, is he going to be able to score the votes needed in the second half of the year when Bartel is coming home like a steam train?

Cheers for the spreadsheet gnostic and thanks for the work you've put in.. I've layed a bit down on a couple of multi's to make the night more enjoyable.. :thumbsu:

A lot of us got it right last year. Bartel was no long shot.
I would of thought that Bruce beating Black was case enough, what else do you need to say.

On my spreadsheet I have him as a chance to poll in 9 out of the first 11 games... that is not going to result in only 8 votes, I can assure you.

I got 18-1 on Bartel on Brownlow day. He was far from favourite. It was a great call from CD to nominate him as the winner.

Champion Data uses their ranking points as a guide to who will poll votes. Since Black doesn't always dominate ranking points, their system tends to underestimate the votes he will get. Umpires obviously like him.

So I agree that Black will poll more than Champion says he will, I'm not arguing with that. I'm asking you - how is he going to poll enough votes in the second half of the year to pull off the win?

In the Sun today it says;
26 - Ablett, Bartel
17 - Cooney, Franklin
16 - Riewoldt
15 - Harvey, Kirk
14 - Hodge
12 - Thompson, Judd, Bowden, Goodes
11 - Black, Bateman, Pendlebury, Deledio, Tuck, Bolton
10 - Power, Lake, Boyd, Cross, Corey, Cassisi

That's pretty different from http://www.fanfooty.com.au/game/championdatabrownlow.php
Both listed as predicted by Champion Data

The official prediction is generated differently from that fan made poll, while that fan made poll is done by highest ranking, i believe the official prediction takes other factors into consideration
