Anyone interested in doing a preview for our first final please PM me.

Edit: thanks mpal6 ! If anyone else is still interested I'll also take expressions of interest for our second final, whoever and whenever that might be.

Surely it'd be twilight rather than afternoon. A 3:20 bounce in September could start warm - major advantage to us if so I suppose.
The other consideration will be when the Broncos will play their final in Week 1 (if they finish top 2).

Last thing the AFL want is a clash between the two Brisbane teams in different sporting codes.

Usually it’s straight after the last match (which will be tonight).

According to Jon Ralph today on pre-game, Collingwood Thursday, Carlton Friday, Brisbane Saturday Afternoon and Sydney / St. Kilda Sunday Afternoon so maybe if results occur as I imagine to happen, would be something like this:

Thursday Night
Collingwood vs. Melbourne

Friday Night
Carlton vs. Western Bulldogs / GWS

Saturday Afternoon / Twilight
Brisbane vs. Port Adelaide

Sunday Afternoon / Twilight
Sydney vs. St. Kilda

Apparently this is because the AFL want interstate teams to travel back on the same day as such.
No way they play those Saturday games at the same time or overlapping.

Just looking at this again - that would be the first Sunday final in... how long? A decade?

Feels like week 1 has exclusively been Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday twilight & Saturday night for a very long time now. But I might well be misremembering.

Now it’s confirmed that’s it’s Port, Lyons can’t be in the starting 22, so if Linc is fit then I would just bring him back in and put JL back in the subs vest, which he has shown he can be quite effective at. Can’t go in to slow against them or their midfield will kill us on the outside.

Even if Linc doesn’t get up, I still don’t think we can have JL as part of the 22. My pick would be Cockatoo as he can play the Linc/Lohman role and give a chop out through the middle but I doubt the coaching staff would bring him in, in a final off no games for the year.

They could bring in a left field for this game, they bought in Wilmot to debut in finals last season.

Could not agree more on Lyons, he would be shown up badly, Port are just too quick.

I wouldn't be against Harry Sharp being the sub, Cockatoo could be an option, would provide a bit of x factor.

Correct. Basically last time I can remember it was when there were 4 finals in Victoria week 1. Certainly no Sunday finals since pre finals bye and they could do Thursday night instead.

I think this will be a big game for our midfield depth. Drew could go to Neale and Dunkley to Butters.

Need the second stringers to match up well with Ports midfield depth
Neale, Dunkley, McCluggage, Berry, Fletcher, Bailey, Robertson, Ah Chee, Rayner, Zorko.

V

Butters, Rozee, Horne-Francis, Drew, Powell-Pepper, Boak, Wines, Duursma, Farrell, Rioli.

Last Sunday final would have been Dogs vs. Dons in Tassie 2021

Nothing worse than eastern end seats for day games.
Agree
People in the sun at the Gabba can handle it at a 4.40pm game.
But 3.20pm is a bit much for players and the crowd looking into the sun.
Not to mention the broadcast is crappy till the light in this case shade is even over the ground.

Charlie Cameron will bring up his 200th game in this one, lets hope we hear Country Roads a few times with the crowd singing along.

If we win through to the Grand Final in straight sets Dayne Zorko will bring up his 250th in the big dance.... great effort to get to that many games when he debuted as a 23 year old in 2012.
