Siddle looked knackered a couple of times during the last test (was squatting down as soon as he got into the huddle after he took wickets on the first day) and at one point they thought he had some sort of injury, so I expect he'll be the first one to get rotated out for a rest. They'll probably be monitoring him closely during the week.

I wouldn't rest anyone.

There's a 10 day break between now and the next test. That's a long amount of time.
Yep! Don't flirt with form. The momentum is there plus a decent break so no changes on form. However, on form, over the three tests you'd drop Haddin and Wade is the obvious replacement.

Out: Haddin In: Wade
Out: Starc In: Lyon

Marsh lucky to retain his spot and would want to make some runs or will miss out on the West Indies tour.

LOL flirting with form??? seriously?? Simply resting a bloke who has played 5 tests this summer. Shouldn't do any harm to his form at all. He will be playing shield cricket for the VICS to continue his good form.

Did I hear that the test stars have been given permission to play in the Big Bash?? Warner isn't though.
Haddin and Starc have been cleared because the sixers need to win, Lyon has been released because they cant let the Stars make the finals, whilst Marsh has been released because its the only form he can make runs

No one else has been allowed to play, suprising with Warner but the Thunder cant make the finals anyway so they dont need to let him go

Those same players will likely be allowed to play the semi finals on the weekend as well but wont be available for the final

Would be typical of the selectors to keep Siddle then not play him in Adelaide

Just heard Bill Lawry on the radio say he's heard they intend resting Sids. Did he give the selectors a spray for even considering it! Flirting will form is dumb.
"Flirting with form (by resting someone) is dumb"?

Chris Scott says hello and begs to differ.

You know, the one who coached your team Geelong to a flag last year, by "flirting with form" all year long, making approx 3.3 changes to the team each week, resting those who needed it on a regular basis.

For a "dumb" idea, it was awfully effective! :D

Siddles pretty rubbish in the short forms anyway

I hope they dont rest him, for bowlers such as Siddle they dont need rotating, they are good with a decent amount of overs, they are past the stress fracture age. In form keep him in there.

Hilf might be different if he has a knee problem but really the only change should be Starc out for Lyon.

No chance that Haddin will be dropped for this test. He's part of an XI that has India 3-0 down after three tests and he's mates with the skipper.

It will be Lyon in for Starc.

Correct weight

Hopefully we'll keep Sidds, Hilfy and Harris...it's not like they've done a ton of work in the last 2 tests.

Up to the curator who plays out of Lyon or Starc...hopefully he is pouring the fertiliser on as we speak, so it's fluro green and Starc gets to back up.

History suggests Lyon will definately play however.

Worth a try.;) But comparing a game where players front up every week for a game as physicality demanding as AFL and who do so over about nine months consisting of some thirty games is hardly the same thing as we’re discussing here. Three Tests where the team has won relatively easily and with a long break before the final game. Resting a player in those circumstances is flirting with form IMO.

Betcha that if the selectors follow that course of action and our team falters the press and people here will be all over ‘em.

BTW. No way were there 3.3 changes per week related to rotations. Nowhere near.

Even though AFL is demanding, it was still unusual for a team to make that many changes on a regular basis and to rest those who needed a break during the season like they did. Many would have considered that "flirting with form", if they knew that was Geelong's plan for the year, just the same as they would consider resting someone like Siddle (who has played 8 tests in a row and looked buggered at times in the Perth test) "flirting with form".
I heard on the TV, or whatever, the other day, that the likes of Siddle are covering something like 25kms per innings (from GPS measurements) so they are doing a lot and that is every couple of days during a match, not once a week, as it is in the AFL.
I see very little difference between what Geelong did and what is being spoken about with regards to us rotating the fast bowling stocks, if they need it ("if you need it" is the key, whether it's Aussie Rules or cricket, or whatever.).
As for the 3.3, that is what I heard in the media after the season/during the finals, may have been on one of the Foxtel Footy shows. They said that Geelong averaged approx 3.3 changes to their team per week for the season. Maybe they got it wrong, but that's what they said.

Sorry! What's happening in Adelaide next week?
If Siddle plays or misses this test it will make no difference to his form when Australia next plays a test in 4 months time, however if he gets injured in this meaningless dead rubber it will be the greatest waste of all time

Or do you mean Australias form, in which case it doesnt matter who they pick, they will still win easily

Harris out Lyon in for me. Starc bowled better then harris and although Harris is a good bowler, hes older whereas Starc is quite young and is also left handed allowing more variation.

The teams form. Um! And that's the sort of overconfidence that brings teams undone.;)

If he's "buggered" you don't pick him. By flirting with form I mean not selecting someone who is fit to play and whose form warrants him playing but you choose to rest him.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on comparing a demanding collision game that occurs regularly in 6 days - sometimes 5 - over an extended nine month period with the test series we are discussing here.

What you heard on Foxtel may have been the total number of changes but they would not have been solely rotations. Most would have been injury, form or match-up related.

Not sure if serious??

Out Starc, In Lyon.

Hope Marsh gets some runs as he really is a beautiful batsman to watch when firing.

Put Haddin in a car after the match and drive him around the oval so he can say goodbye. (Not too close to the fence though as he might hear the jeers from the crowd).
