In my humble opinion it's way too early to write off Eddy, his break out game may be not that far away, and the forward line has looked much more structured on a number of occasions with his presence.

I'm not sure there is much to be gained by leaving a key forward on the bench for long periods either, maybe because Kern was a defender he doesn't like them.

If you're going to play a 'second striker' (another dedicated forward who can do that and only that) then he has to impact the play if he's not impacting the scoreboard. White can play Eddy's role as well as push back into the midfield etc. It's a completely different look to the stagnant movement that resulted in inside 50 dominance resulting in fewer goals. White's speed in the forward line is critical.

Structure is rubbish in the modern game because defenders are too good at closing it down. So unless you've got a plethora of marking talls like Adelaide, you need flexibility.

OUT: Amon - Westhoff
IN: Frampton - Ah Chee

I'm picking players who deserve a go... Sorry, Pittard needs another go in the Magpies.
Justin Westhoff has played poorly all this year and last year. Time Ken took his gold pass away.

Matt White hasn't played even a reasonable game at any level since 2015. I love him but he needs to come back through the SANFL. Really we should've played him there this week and held out Krak as the non-playing emergency.

I don't think we can afford to bring Atley in.

We already have Gray and Wingard looking sore/underdone and SPP and Eddy looking like they are struggling to run out an AFL game (hence low TOG).

IMO this is part of the reason our pressure was down.

Brining in another first year player will only make this worse.

Atley can come in if we rest Robbie/Wingard, drop Eddy or when SPP starts to flag.

Otherwise he might have to wait

Would be nice if Chad Cornes did his job and actually had the players pushing up playing some decent football. Why did we hire him again?

Ah Chee - Rewarding form.
More than important, it's critical. He's busted his guts for a few weeks now. Premature to write his career off.
Frampton needs to be taken seriously by the selection committee if Paddy is rubbed out.
Lobbe's has been underwhelming at best. Billy might not have the experience but he's 2m's? can jump,
solid mark, quick over the ground and a good kick.

That's fair enough, but I wasn't one of those who melted when he was dropped for round 2.

I wasn't having a go at you finny. It's a comment that's popped up a few times now.

I didn't melt either when he was dropped. I liked what he brought but I could understand the reasoning. Just like I will if he gets sent back to the snaffle this week.

We are not without a chance v GWS i reackon. Davis could miss, Griffen out. They are already minus Coniglio so we could get on top through the middle....
Um..with Lobbe?

Outs - Sam Gray. In big games his lack of size and composure shows. Good depth, but not a player for a top 4 sides best 22. He's no Caleb Daniel exception to the 'no small mids' rule.
Jonas - he's shown he can't match fast players and GWS is stacked with them.

I agree Sam Gray should be out, but your reasoning is incorrect in my view. He has played some blinders against top opposition, and his size has never been an issue. I feel he's at his best winning the ball in midfield and getting the ball forward, not playing in the forward line.

Jonas should never have been on Betts, and he had a terrible first half, but he was probably our best defender in the second half

Out: Amon, great kick, has improved his toughness significantly, but just does not get involved enough. He's a passenger for most of the game.

Sam Gray - I'm a big Sam Gray fan, I like what he brings to the team, but feel he has also been a bit of a passenger. At his best, he's in our best 22, but needs a few weeks to find form.

In

Atley to replace Sam, Krak to replace Amon. We got bashed in contested ball, Atley should help that. Krak doesn't have as long a kick as Amon, but his delivery is usually spot on, and he can play back, mid and forward as required.
