Changes for Round 10

Who would have thought last year that Masten, Swift and Ebert will be playing alongside eachother. Exciting times.

I don't think Ebert will make the final cut personally

Still Swift, Masten, Ebert, Shuey, Cockie, S.Selwood oh and some tall kid named Naitanui

Hard not to be excited at what the future holds :)

WTF! Seriously why drop Cockie back to the rookie list if the club has no intention of playing Davis. Thats just crap. Half the team is a bunch of lazy c**** who wont chase or tackle (or simply cant tackle), then we have the bloke who chases everyone dropped. Bullshit!

Ebert (Trade Material?)

You sir are an idiot. Second best young midfielder we have, his extraction work will make that Priddis fellow look second rate in a few years.

Wah wah wah.

Davis is still a better fit for the side considering we have more senior listed kids up and going to replace Cockie unlike earlier in the year.

That and he deserves it. He was dreadfully unlucky not to be senior listed last year.

Personally, I don't think Cockie was terribly impressive. He was OK but Davis and the other midfielders have more upside.

If Davis is so good why hasnt he replaced the underperforming Nicoski and Jones?

Cockie despite limited game time has consistently been high up in our tackle count, and its well noted we're a very poor tackling side, last in the AFL going by the stats isnt it?

Also not to mention that now that Priddis is ruled out, the logical replacement is back on the rookie list and playing for Subi, while the other rookie lines up for Swans once again

They've talked about resting the kids such as Cockie, Masten, Ebert etc.

The reality of the move is Cockie will only be unavailable for this week and next week. After Round 11 he can be promoted again, and will be. In the meantime he's probably due for a week off anyway, and we may need Davis in that time.

I am pretty sure under the AFL's CBA with the Players Association you can only fill in for the player nominated to have the LTI. Therefore

Shuey = Cockie
Waters = Davis

Weeks ago when Davis was nominated as the replacement off the rookie list for Waters it was probably 50/50 between the two and they rewarded the one with more experience. You can't really argue with that.

Cockie is not the only one who can tackle. You may not be aware but Davis has made 41 tackles in his last 4 WAFL games. Both having some rugby in their background is a bonus.

Will be very interesting to see who will get the ball out of the middle this week without Priddis and Cockie we lose a lot on muscle in the middle.
I was going to say that adam selwood wood play on Judd but they may just try scooter so they can have adam extrating?

should have heavy rotations in the middle with Ebert, Masten, Mcnamara, Selwood

Geez, Tom Swift is a good looking man. Also gives Brent "Mr Australia" Staker a run for his money in that race. Needs to tame the hair a bit better although.

A little birdy told me McKinley is 50/50 for the game. Has a calf strain from last week he cant get over.

Well I'm going off this:

Mark LeCras, Tyson Stenglein, Adam Hunter and Jamie McNamara were also in the 24-man travelling squad while Matt Priddis (thigh), Adam Cockie and Brett Jones (both omitted) won’t play.

Forward Ben McKinley had his left calf in a compression bandage when the players met at Perth Airport.
So Stinger for Priddis, Swift/McNamara for Cockie look relatively safe bets. If McKinley doesn't get up then I guess Lecca is a straight swap. Hunter for Jones?

My guess is:

Hunter for Seaby
Swift for Cockie
Stenglein for Priddis
Lecras for Jones (Wirra to go back)

Seaby and McNamara emergencies.

Thats what i assumed was the case as well. But then why has 'The West' gone on for the last 2-3 weeks about which rookie are we going to send back, and which will we retain.

Haha i was gonna get in with something along those lines before someone else did.

So is that an official ruling then or not? Were we forced to put Cockie back onto the rookie list or did we have a choice?

No we wern't forced to put Cockie back on the rookie list.
It doesn't matter who you elevate just as long as the numbers are even.
We could have put Davis back on the Rookie list If we wanted and Kept Cockie on the Senior list for Waters but we chose to send Cockie back.

My guess is that Adam Cockie would have been told when he was elevated that he will get a chance to debut and to try and convince the selection commitee that he should be elevated after Rnd 11 but once Shuey was fit to return he would automaticly be placed on the rookie list.

I think he has done enough to suggest he should be elevated after Rnd 11.
Thats why he was selected ahead of Davis the last 4 weeks.

The paperwork does matter.

I don't care what the West has been crapping on about, rookies are linked to whoever they are elevated for.

When Shuey was available, Cockie had to be sent back to the rookie list.

I'll use a Melbourne FC example: They had put Jamar on LTI for Jake Spencer, when Jamar became available again, they had to file more paperwork to send Meesen onto LTI and link Jake Spencer to him, so they could keep him promoted for the rest of the season.

You seriously think, that if the Eagles had a choice that they would opt to downgrade the player that had played the last 4 games in the seniors, over the player who hadn't played seniors for 6 weeks?

Cheers for clearing that up mate, i thought the Eagles had just gone stupid in dropping Cockie back without the intention of playing Davis. But they had to do it. Thats what i initially thought before i read all this other crap.
