OUT: Schulz(Can't kick for goal, took a great mark, ****ed the kick, need someone who can kick straight for goal if they aren't getting a lot of the ball), King(Too small, too erratic, simply not good enough), Edwards(2 poor games, either play him up forward, or don't play him at all right now).

IN: Hughes(Give him a go, can kick, would've relished the delivery for a lot of today, especially against the poor defence that Geelong had), Thomson(Depends on fitness)/Connors(Depends on fitness), Collins(PLEASE GIVE HIM A GO!), Thursfield(Still think he is in our 22, if Connors and Thomson aren't fit, give Thursty a go), Tambling(Just a maybe, don't know if he deserves a spot).

Again as i said above you post. Riewoldt cannot kick for goal either. Do we drop him as well because of that? Sarge has the big body who does the physical stuff we need in the side until someone can do a better job than him. Cleve hasn't done much in the pre-season to take his spot.

I don't reckon Thursty will come in against Dogs because they have a lack of key defenders but otherwise he'd be back in.
Wouldn't mind Conners for Edwards as he can play both sides of the field and has a bigger body than Titch.

First, Riewoldt kicked 1 goal straight today, didn't miss 2 relative sitters.

Not only that Jack offers up the ground support a lot more than Schulz, 7 marks in both games shows that, leads up nicely and always offers a strong lead, with strong hands, Schulz dropped a few easy marks too early on.

Jack gave us plenty of defensive pressure today too, 4 tackles, Schulz just had the 1, Jack always looks to me to be giving that pressure to, always looks to be giving 100%, Schulz has that "I don't give a shit" attitude at times.

Had Schulz kicked those 2 sitters, he would've been in the good books, problem is, he doesn't kick those, his action is PISS POOR, if he doesn't rectify it, he might as well just give up.

While Cleve might not have shown much in the NAB, he has shown us what he can do(Last year) and as I said, on a day like today, when every ball that went up high towards our forwards was a dead set chance and their defence was so brittle, he would've had a day out.

Yeah probably, I just love Thursty, don't want him out too long.:o

Pretty much agree with what you said and you havent come out saying Shultz is shit etc and didn't back it up :thumbsu:
Riewoldt kicked one straight today but i keep replaying in my head a couple of turnovers he did from being about 60 out and kicking straight to a Cats player :(
Especially against the Cats when you turn it over about a minute later you pay because they get the ball up the other end and kick a goal out of it :thumbsd:

Jacks pressure has been good and i can clearly remember two smart run downs he's done (1 against Blues and one today) which has pumped the team and myself up :thumbsu:

I also think Cleve's a better option in the square in the long run but for the time being Sarge will have to do. But yes his goalkicking does need to improve but to his defence today had a frustrating breeze for the players with both teams (particularly Tigers) looking shaky doing basic kicks.

OUT:
Edwards: He simply can't lay a tackle and he is being played out of position. Has had two poor games in a row and should go back and dominate at Coburg for a couple of weeks.

King: I LOVED the fact that he showed some heart and sqaured up to GAblett today but his kicking is average at best and his horrible kick in cost us the vital Mooney goal in the 3rd quater. But I think Terry knows that with Raines out Richmond need atleast one of McMohan or King in the team to help out Newman and at this stage I think King is the lesser of two evils so if it comes down to those two I would take King.

Schultz: Doesn't take enough marks. If Hughes is fit hopefully he comes in but this probably won't happen until Hughes has a few more Coburg matches under his belt

*I'm happy for Nahas to get a game for next week. Would have touched the ball all of 2 times in the first half but got alot better as the game wore on. I am happy to give him another crack. Still for a guy who is apparently meant to bring foward 50 tackles, I would have thought that one of his tackles would have to stick first. Unlike Riewoldt who is going to be a bonafide gun imo once he gets a bit more help down their and a better set shot

INS:
Obvioulsy depends on tommorrow but I can't see Thusrtfield coming in against the small and nippy dogs foward line so I would say Collins and even Thompson if he is fit enough are a even chance of a call up

Yep, agree, I think that it could come down more to options than his kicks/kicking, also I think it is a matter of him learning that role a little more, plenty of KPP's to it now, that whole lead-up role, he just has to evolve and adapt into both a lead-up and a hit-up target for now at least, will be tough, but he is good enough.

Maybe, but Schulz has been doing this for a while now, was a fantastic kick at goal, had this wonderful walk up run up and would kick it straight through the middle almost every time, but the last couple of years something has changed, he now almost runs in on his run up and his kicking has suffered because of it, look at his form, 2006(16 goals, 4 behinds), 2007(14 goals, 14 behinds), 2008(10 goals, 12 behinds), 2009(2 goals, 3 behinds), somthing happened in the 2007 season, what it was I don't know, but he needs to go back to the way he did kick prior to 2007.

I know we've got a few of his type now but I'd love to see Thomson in Round 3. Really like the way he goes about his footy.

After today there is only 3-4 maximum you could probably drop. Good thing though is we have about 6 pushing for selection and they can all slot into the best 22 and some are improvements on what we had in today. I just hope the right changes are made and I hope all of our coaches go down and watch the VFL match with interest for the full four quarters. Also should be keeping a very close eye on the Dogs match. These are simple basic things a coach should be doing properly but with the mediocrity that some things have been gone about in the past and hearing that last weeks VFL practice match, TW only stayed for 1 half and wasn't really paying too much attention unlike David King and such was disappointing. You never know with the RFC...

:)Out: Edwards.
In: Connors.
That's all.
Surprised many have called for Nahas to go.
I thought the boy did quite well for his first hit-out.
Was awful early on, as a lot of debutantes are as they adjust to the pace and intensity of AFL, put strated to look like he belonged towards the end and di d some good things in the second half. he's only going to get better! And does offer a contest, even if thetackles don't always stick!!

And surprised people want so many changes. FFS, we came within two goals of a grand finalist, who has dominated us for 15 years and was the best team in the competition last year for all but two hours.
Four and five changes I can understand after an 80 point belting, but after yesterday??? Give me a break!

the mids now know they must play good to keep there spot, with cuz/coughlan/cotchin/thomson trying to break back into the team.

Aslong as tambing and Mcmahon dont come in, im happy. There both Friggen pathetic.

Yeah like others have said I'd be dropping Edwards as well, not sure who to come in yet though, whoever plays best for us in the VFL praccy today I suppose.

I loved our team structure this week. We had a team out there for certain matchups rather than just who TW might think our best 22 are. I wouldn't want to make 2 many changes to throw out that balance. I leave King in there, i think there are some intangables with King some ppl miss. He hits every midfielder that runs by him and his energy fires up the others around him who can be a little lacklustre at times. I can live with skills errors until our other players become better self motivators.
I leave nahas in to, the youngster was a bit nervous but he was almost dangerous at times and did chase hard. He'll be better for the run. I loved Rance(good old fashioned backman), polo and jackson not playing on the best mid rather taking selwood. Perfect matchup for him next week Higgins rather than Cooney. I agree with all who say Edwards need to have a rest to build confidence. If Cog is ready get him in and put white or jackson to backline if not we might need Tamblings pace against the bullies next week. I do love Thomson though and would like to see him in at some stage

Agree on Nahas, he got a good lesson yesterday in how good the best of the best really are. He would hav learnt more yesterday than his 2-3 years in the VFL put together I reckon. Would love to see him get another crack.

Also, what were people's thoughts on Graham? Do we keep him in? Do we give the big Ranga another go? Or do we bring Patto in if he's right?

IN: Tambling, Thomson
Out: Edwards, Nahas

Would love it if Nahas got another gig against the doggies, playing the cats on debut, it's a bit rough to get a true indication of where he is at. Hopefully we put thursty in for Schulz, but think that Terry may make him earn his spot back after his terrible efforts against the blues. Few people have Coggas in their in's, is he ready to go? If so cogs ahead of tambling, although tamblings tackling may be needed to help shut down the doggies run, but with thomson and hislop in we will hopefully have this covered.

Massive Game for us, I hope we can switch it on! Deserved the win last year. In the dieing seconds plleeaaasssee, someone man up minson in the forward line. Yes he is a spud, but dont want to loose because of him again.

Hey guys, this is not a SC/DT question (I have neither) but merely out of interest as I like to keep track of all Tasmanian players, how did Hislop and Graham go?

I see no ones suggesting they get dropped which is a good sign.

hislop went allright nothing brillant but, will keep his spot in the team and hopefully attapt more because from the ball he got he looked dangerous and he is a hardnut which we need. graham only got 4 hitouts. but got a few disposals should keep his spot unless one of the ruckmen in the 2nds has a day out.

good point goldy, heard as much on radio, I was prob too tough on his first few possies where he was hammered but you're right he won some good ball in 2H and only lacked some finishing that we prob should persevere with, he'll get another game:thumbsu:

outs- king, shultz ins-thursty, putt at 202cm should give doggies backmen nightmares ps also think cuz should come back through the 2,s hes fit but not match fit may have contributed to his hammy tear just a thought

Cant get a kick at coburg so why bring Hughes in seriously. Only change we should make maybe is edwards otherwise leave it as it is.

why drop nahas? i thought he played a good game and showed something late. and it was geelong, that is a massive step up from VFL to the best team in the country.
