God lord, what's your problem with Campbell? Don't tell me he's going to be the new whipping boy!

I've got no problem with him, I just don't think he's done enough to keep his place in the team based on his performances and will probably go back to the SANFL for a while. Is that so hard for you to comprehend?

Yep, because I disagree. :p Pretty sure he's doing what the coach asks of him or he wouldn't still be there.

He's there because we've had continuous injury to mid-fielders - no other reason.

I'm not bagging him - not at all, because I believe he's an honest footballer (unlike your other championed cause).

However he doesn't play as well as any of Knights, Porps or Vince - and once they're all back he's out anyway.

With all our players available he's not in our best 22.

If you disagree with me why are you repeating in the team selection thread pretty much exactly what I've written in this thread? Do you even know what you're disagreeing with?

:D:D

I just finished reading that thread myself where Jen argues the exact opposite of what she's been arguing with you. :D

Unbelievable. :)

agree with everything youve said. he isnt doing enough. sometimes stats lie - campbell misses far too many straight forward kicks when under no pressure. will be gone at years end imo

ps pretty decent flip flop from Jen here:D

I tend to agree.

One of the main reasons ive wanted Campbell retained, despite his continually being the lowest posession gainer in the team, is because hes freed up van Berlo to play a free running, attacking game, to great success.

If Campbell gets dropped, does that mean van Berlo returns to a back up run with player role? If so, we lose alot of the reason we've won in the last month.

Ah but there's a difference. You have done it with such vehemence and almost loathing. I KNOW that Campbell is only in the side because of injuries. I also KNOW that when the fit players return, he will step aside. But, unlike you, I believe the kid has done a reasonable job given his opportunity. Not enough to make our starting 22, but a useful depth player should the need arise. He's not the useless piece of .... that you (and a couple of others) have made him out to be.

That's bullshit. :( Nowhere have I said that Campbell is in our top 22. I have said I believe he'll be hard done by to be dropped..... because he hasn't done much wrong in the limited opportunities he's been given, however Knights/Vince over Campbell every day of the week and twice on Sundays. You see the difference here is that people (such as ****) are calling the kid useless, that he should be dropped because of said uselessness (or worse, de-listed). I absolutely disagree.

My stance on whether Campbell or Dangerfield should make way for the returning Knights, I'd have to say - unfortunately for Campbell, THIS week it would have to be him. This is based purely on the fact that the game is once again in Melbourne and gives us another opportunity to see what Danger has to offer. Had the game been in Adelaide, I would have said keep Campbell.

Pisses me off that people that support my club can be so callous towards our own players.

Yes Jenny. They are very callous towards a player they don't like. But try to demean a player they like and they'll come down on you like a ton of bricks.:) Some go as far as accusing the coach of being too stupid to realize that the player they like is better than the one the coach selects.
Go figure!!

Is he? You don't sound like you even know yourself by using the term 'likely'. I am quite certain he hasn't been. Certainly not more than rare occasions. Who has he negated? That sounds more like a convenient excuse given to someone who doesn't find the football.

you shouldn't be ;)

What a wonderful position for the club to be in coming in to the final rounds. Knights and Vince are absolute certainties when fit. You'd think Danger will get one more look at it this week and that will be it for the season. Campbell will be dead set unlucky to be omitted BUT you play the best team available. I'd hate to drop anyone else either! Such a dilemma, bloody glad I'm not on the selection panel!

On the subject of Porps.... putting all emotion aside, is a bloke with a very doubtful shoulder, going to play any real part in our finals campaign? Carlton targeted him, so will everyone else. Are we just asking for trouble bringing him back in KNOWING full well he may not be able to play out the game if the shoulder pops again and can't be put back in, leaving us a man short on the bench?
YES!!!!

No one is 100%, especially in finals. Sure with Porps there is probably more doubt that with many players but this lad has played with a shoulder thats popping out since the first showdown this year. Thats a bloody long time and in that time he has gone on to be stamp himself as a star of the competition and truth be told, our only match winner.

Since we didn't send Porps in for the surgery earlier in the season it would be rather hypocritical not to play him now. All the planning so far has been to play him for as long as he is physically able and all of a sudden now we should say, nah give him a rest.

A half fit Porplyzia is still our only match winner and he has produced with one wing for most of the year. He will produce in the finals. The lad is as tough and as dedicated as they come!

There's no questioning his toughness or value to the team. I'd rather he play next week (pre-finals) so we can see if it's going to be a problem. Guaranteed the Doggies will target him.

Wouldn't want Will "I leave my brain in the change rooms" Minson to get anywhere near him...

He has a brain?

Though you are right, Porps is the right size for Will, that is he is much smaller than Will and Will only shoves or bumps players much smaller than him like Reilly and Van Berlo.

Rubbish.

You said he'd be unlucky to be dropped. All I said in reponse was

You think?

If anything he'd be lucky if he stays in the side. Even considering his relative inexperience he just hasn't done enough.

Is there honestly a fairer assesment than that? Even if my opinion is wrong, it was fair and reasonable. I have nothing against Campbell whatsoever and have never written anything to make anyone believe so.

If you think the above comment or the subsequent comments I've made displays vehemence and loathing then what you are reading is not what I've written and is entirely in your imagination. It's the total over reactions like yours that can make this forum so frustating at times.

When commenting that a fringe player will be lucky to keep his spot in the side draws so much complaint (despite your own comments echoing mine almost word for word) there is not much incentive to attempt rational conversation on here. And that is a shame.

Apologies ****. I think I read much more into the "You think?" than was obviously intended as well as the "He'll be lucky to stay in the side" which Ive interpreted as squad. Sorry about that.

That's fine.

I do also think he'll be lucky to stay in the squad next year. But that's another story and I'd better not go there. ;)
