Eddy should never have been in the team in the first place. I can't believe he was selected ahead of Armitage, Dempster, Gwilt and Geary. Even Luke Ball was behind him at one stage. In fact, I found it puzzling Eddy got the nod ahead of Xavier Clarke was overlooked in round five for the Port Adelaide match. Xavier had very good VFL form before he went down with his knee, where as Eddy was just doing ok at VFL level.

That the only change. Dawson and Raph Clarke were good last night.

Its interesting how we can have different perspective on performances.
Honestly I thought Eddy played a servicable game, his tackling was very good.

By the way did anyone else notice Gram playing? Did he play half the game? Did I just not notice him or was he unusually quiet?

Max will be far from match fit...

Although I guess Stevey King did alright in 2007.

Truthfully Max doesn't need to be as if he gets in he will not be leaving the defensive half, this would eliminate the 7 man forward set up and Goddard being dragged back as you could simply shift a midfield or forward rotation for Raph, Gilbo, Cougar, Chips. he will have enough match fitness from being an emergency 1st week and training with the rest of the boys as they trained to play his role, the problem would arise with someone like Armo who would be expected to bust his gut all day where he would then explode with the lack of match time in him.

An extra defender against the cats or pies for that matter would allow a roaming defender to lead up a little more or become a chain in an attacking play (like Fisher last night) it's worth it to me.

How many tackles did Eddy have? Not many i'm tipping. Eddy only had 4-5 touches, I really can not rate that serviceable in anybody's language. Unless if you kick four goals from four possessions, otherwise not.

Why not play the extra defender? Max is an absolute gun and should take one of their forwards out of the game as he usually does.

Eddy didn't do much at all and they are very reluctant to pass him the ball?
..So why not put Max back in and let Gram, Goddard, Dawson or Clarke play higher up the field?

Strongly agree. Anyone who says this will make us top heavy, explain to me why Goddard had to play (and was killed by) Hahn then?

I would like to see Geary come in for Eddy, don't think he ever deserved to lose his spot and he was ripping it up in the reserves. I get the feeling that it will be another no change week though.

I would take Raph out and put Hudgton in. I dont think we would loose too much in raphs position and we would gain a so much more with Hudgton playing forward and back in defensive 50. It would help when Dawson runs outside defensive 50 too.

I will preface this with the fact I have not watched the game yet, only listened on radio.

Eddy must go and Gwilt to come in. He is a bit more accountable on the scoreboard and has the potential to pop up and create his own chances against what is probably the cats next week.

Max will not return as much as we all want him to have is opportunity. His hammy is a bench rotation risk and I simply can not see it happening. ABC radio also reported after the match that Max was the ONLY fringe player not to be in the players rooms for a debrief with Ross. That does not look good for him. I hope it is all being handled well. He can and will be forgiven by all if he takes this situation badly and personally.

Can anybody provide minutes played stats? I am trying to determine Ball's output which, if only 60 minutes or so, appears very good.

Well yeah but the point being that he seems unlikely to hit a building when he kicks the thing so he will be paid no mind whatsoever and then bob up for 6 goals while everyone's going "what the bloody hell?"
