I could see maybe one or two changes being made.

Eddy out - Gwilt, Dempster or Armo in.
Dawson out - Max in.

I would wait to see the weather forecast for Saturday, if it's dry Gwilt in if it's wet I would love to see Armo on a forward flank.

Dawson is a tough one. Has been great all year but has looked a little shaky the last couple. A gut wrenching decision for selectors coming up.

depends on matchups - against geelong we may play 2 big defenders

i cant see dawson getting dropped he was good last night

Eddy out for Gwilt or Armo

Raph Clarke out for Dempster

Zac won't be dropped...coach has shown faith in him all year and will stick with him in the GF

Raph will play also....had a couple of clangers as usual (that short pass to a dog was terrible) but I thought he had a super game. Gives some much needed speed to the backline and like Zac the coach has shown faith all year.

Eddy is most likley but GL does not like changes.

So IMO team will probably be unchanged....tough for some but thats footy.

Eddy, while he did move around and got into some good positions all night, he has no place in the side if he's not going to be used or go looking for the thing himself. It's all well and good to spread but you also need to know when that isn't working. He'll likely be dropped.

I'd actually put Max in for him, play an extra defender. Last night the dogs tried to engineer different people on different opponents they were not suited for and several goals were created by this mismatch (like Goddard on Hahn) Dempster, Cougar, Chips and BJ can all play forward, if Dawson doesn't have an opponent or BJ is caught on Mooney god forbid, then you have the option to drag someone throw Cougar or BJ forward and replace the backline with Max.

lol, dudes, raph and zac are safe.

The only spot up for grabs is Eddy's, and he will be dropped. Was woeful last night.

Eddy out for any one of: Dempster (most likely IMO), Gwilt, Steven, Armo & Geary.

Probably Seany D. GF player who can play the eddy role blended with a gwilt lead up role.

Geary is a small back, so unless one of our defenders move forward, he won't.

Armo probably not, i dont think he has a discliplne to play a forward defensive role.

Dempster plays a similar role to gwilt, but Jimmy crashes packs better.

Tough week

OUTS: Eddy, Possibly Dawson
INS: Dempster, Max

Eddy hardly did a thing last night, only four handballs and a tackle.
Dawson looked a little 'overawed' about playing last night, i think the context of the game may have got to him, and i wouldn't like to see him in a GF. Hoping Max will get back, otherwise it will be heartbreaking (Possibly worse than Harves missing out)

Cant wait, going to enjoy the week go to the final training session, and the parade. :)

Out: Eddy
In: Geary.

Because I'm biased.
But it will probably be Dempster more likely if Eddy misses out.
Good luck.

Zac looked shaky early but when the game was on the line in the 2nd half he was solid as a rock.

He spoiled, tackled, and didn't turn the ball over in the back line.

No way he should be dropped.

Eddy out for anyone.

Cmon Armo and Geary would be pulling their hairs out wondering why they're not in the team over this kid.

I loved him last year, but he's just not touching it this year!

After reading other posts maybe Eddy's place looks in doubt but no way anyone else wil be dropped unless for training mishaps ... go the Saints u can do it:thumbsu:

1. Don't feed the troll (he appears to be the only sore loser and the mods should take care of him)

2. Changes for GF

Eddy did a lot of work off the ball and you can't blame him for being overlooked at more than one occasion - even if 20m clear right in front of goal.

That said, as much as I would feel for Eddy, four disposals and just one tackle will get you in trouble any day. Being sentimental as always, I would bring in Hudghton (especially if Geelong win tonight).

The only other player who may be in trouble (Dawson should be safe and suggesting that Clarke should be dropped is ludicrous) is Schneider with a couple of quiet games now (both Dempster and Armitage could replace him), but I think he will play.

Eddy isn't doing enough, takes up a spot on the ground while the real players are resting. Armo , Geary, Gwilt or Dempster could replace him. I tend to favour Armo as a direct replacement, but I still think that Gwilt can be an important part of locking the ball into our forward line.
I thought that Luke Ball was pretty good for a guy that was struggling for selection.
Not an amazing amount of possession but he got the most clearances I think, and his tackles were up there.

Are you referring to the time when Kosi should have kicked it to him in the goal square, but instead centered it to Fisher who kicked the goal?

Lake was getting closer to Eddy by the second and Kosi would have had to kick the ball high over Lake's head, by which time Lake would be able to make a contest and take an easy mark. (Due to his height)
If Kosi kicked it to Eddy on a lead, Lake who have cut the kick off. IMO good thinking from Kosi :thumbsu:

The difference between Eddy and Schneider, is that after a couple of quiet games, it is still possible that Schneider can come into a grand final and play a blinder. His history tells us this. Eddy is yet to build up any such history. Some of the media were blaming poor performance ( as measured on the scoreboard ) by Milne and Schnieder on lack of supply.

I think that Eddy is the only one in trouble. Ross seems to love Raph and the way he fits in to the team so he will be right. I would love to see Maxy come in just for his experience and because he deserves the right to play in the GF for his service. That might seem a bit nostalgic and whatever but I reckon he does.

Gram was terrible in this game but thats what you get with him, one good game, one crap game. Hopefully the GF is a cracker for him.

It's not too many times I say this: Clarke will not and should not be dropped
His performance in the last quarter was very good, and he took some strong marks and provided about our only run at that stage

I thought Dawson looked very nervous early (our whole backline did) but I thought he fought back well, and did some terrific stuff in the third. I cannot see him being dropped for Max, as much as I would want Max to play in another Granny

It would seem the only position under some doubt would be that of Eddy's, and any one of Gwilt, Geary, Dempster or Armitage could take his position

Wouldn't be surprised in the least though if we went in next Saturday unchanged

I'm looking forward to watching the prelim again, where I might change my tune :)

Sammy : Yes, that was the most obvious one. Koschitzke took forever to even look up and hesitated too long. By the time he saw him (if he did at all), it was too late, but I am convinced that a Dal Santo would have chipped it to Eddy for an easy goal.

SaintsSeptember : I agree that (probably unlike Eddy) Schneider is capable to win a game by himself (e.g. the preliminary final 2005...), but he has had a few quiet games now and Lyon has been ruthless with his selection decisions.

Stinger : I thought that while he had more clangers than anybody else, that is what you get from Gram in return for him taking risks and I thought he (as did Montagna) played his defensive role last night, even took a contested mark (!!!).

IBTJ : Yes, an unchanged team would not be a surprise. But I will keep my fingers crossed for Hudghton, nobody deserves another go in a GF more than he does ! I know, that is sentimental and Lyon will not care about feelings, but I will hope until next Saturday...

Eddy out for any one of Dempster/Armitage/Geary/Hudghton/Gwilt would probably be the only change I'd make.

Just don't think Eddy is doing enough to justify a spot ahead of any of those players. I'm guessing he is in the team for his tackling/defensive pressure but he still needs to contribute more offensively.

Thought both Dawson and Raph Clarke were pretty good last night. Made the odd error but did a lot more right than wrong. Dawson's physicality and tackling were superb. I think Cometti made the comment that he was 'channeling Max Hudghton' which is a fair complement. Raph's running off half back was invaluable too.

I'd love to see Max selected for the GF but he would have to be brought in for someone other than Zac and Raph. Hard to see it happening unfortunately.

With Raph you get mistakes

but you get effort after effort after effort.

And he is a bit of a wild card thrown on the ball maybe?????

Good enough for me.

OUT: Eddy IN: Hudghton

Why not play the extra defender? Max is an absolute gun and should take one of their forwards out of the game as he usually does.

Eddy didn't do much at all and they are very reluctant to pass him the ball?
..So why not put Max back in and let Gram, Goddard, Dawson or Clarke play higher up the field?

I would take Raph out and put Hudgton in. I dont think we would loose too much in raphs position and we would gain a so much more with Hudgton playing forward and back in defensive 50. It would help when Dawson runs outside defensive 50 too.
