Preview Changes for the Semi Final

I didn't see the game so didn't see Gibbs injury but reading Carlton board many think that he will play. Is that accurate?

"In other injury news, scans have confirmed Bryce Gibbs sprained his AC joint during yesterday’s Elimination Final against Essendon at the MCG. He will be monitored during the week with the club hopeful he may be available to play in this Saturday’s semi-final against West Coast in Perth."
- Carlton website

McGinnity needs a full game, everyone here seems to be of the same opinion. Ebert out, even though I'm a fan, Kerr in, Masten sub.

How I'd line up:

Hurn Glass Butler
Scoot EMac Waters
Gaff Priddis Embley
Nicoski JK Lecras
JD Lynch Naita

Followers: Cox Shuey Kerr
Bench: Schofield, A Selwood, McGinnity
Sub: Masten

In: Kerr Out: Ebert

If Kerr plays Masten will have a typical Chris Masten game on HFF - nobody wants that, that is of no benefit to the side. You'd assume Masten 3 solid games as an inside mid would prove to the selection team that playing him anywhere other than inside mid is ridiculous, but he's not done anything to warrant being dropped, so sub him.

IN: Kerr Smith
OUT: Ebert Gaff/Masten

Tough Choice. Next week we'll have to bring in Rosa as well..

If I were Chairman of Selectors:

Out: A. Selwood
In: McGinnity from sub

Out: Ebert to sub
In: Kerr

Selwood is surely getting a game on past performances only. His dropped chest mark is not getting enough scrutiny. This place would have gone into meltdown if McKenzie had spilt it. PMac is a better small defender.

Obviously the selectors won't have the balls to drop A Selwood. Hard to tell who goes out in that case. Hopefully not Cox.

I have a bad feeling about this game. I have been optimistic going into most of our games after the first half dozen rounds. This is not one of them.

not the worst idea..

Wont happen though unfortunately

A selwood structurally causes us problems aswell i reckon. You can't have 3 or more players who have poor disposal in your back 6 its just too many trying to bring the ball out of defence and means you get bogged down in dangerous positions. Unfortunately for us both our KPD as good as they are have poor skills in glass and mckenzie. Add Waters to this as one of our rebounding defenders and it means we rely so heavily on butler and Hurn bringing the ball our of defence. Adding selwood as well just makes our disposal down back disgraceful.

72.82% disgraceful, as a team, or 76% disgraceful, Selwood's personal DE%?

So you're willing to crucify a guy for 1, admittedly not desired, mistake in a hotly contested final? Would you drop Shuey for being caught HTB twice? Neither would I, just asking, that's all. :p

Caught holding the ball 3 times :p

Swannies your always so calm and rational, how can you not go online and rage about the under performers from the last game? You take too many chilaxatives

Personally i would have Mcginnity OR Smith ahead of Adam Sellwood.
But that will neverrrr happen. I would still have Mcginnity in over Smith however.

The dropped mark was under little pressure. It was regulation. It was very poor football.

I was impressed with Shuey, at least he kept taking the game on.

I think people are underestimating how important experience is in finals.

Plus the Selwood boys don't mind rotating on Judd.

This. Can't remember if I posted it here earlier or somewhere else - in H&A Adam Selwood has no place in our team next year. Last 7 games this year, at least, most people wanted him gone. However, his finals experience is so vital. Not to single out Shuey again, as he wasn't the only one, but you can see the effect of finals pressure on usually reliable players. Selwood dropped a mark yes. His finals experience (along with the Judd factor which is a good point) all point to the fact that he needs to be in the side this week at least.

does anyone remember the attack on the ball by ASelwood when Didak was running into a open goal and Selwood hit the goal post while forcing the point and was nearly KO`d .This desperation is what gets him a game .

It's funny how it took this long for that to be mentioned.

Interesting. Wonder why the club thinks this. Wonder if this means they think he won't play

Today particularly, not sure why, something is really wrong!:p

But seriously, supporting Swan Districts for over 30 years will do that to a person, you have to get into a "fantasy island" in your head. :D

TBH if its a blood clot as reported and he plays 2 weeks later i would be shocked. I've had some experience knowing people with blood clots and under every situation its been heavily stated that said person must not exert themselves as it could be very dangerous.

I thought they said it was a cyst

Everything in this post is perfect.

I think our defensive back 6 unit as a whole has pretty poor disposal especially when compared to most teams. A selwood only makes it worse. 72.82% is our team as a whole not our back 6. 72.82 for the team was a good performance. As for selwoods 76% firstly thats one game, in general he has poor disposal and tbh 76% for a backman is actually quite poor. Most defenders have it above 80.
I think given the abundance of our HB flankers and back pocket types A selwood does not deserve a guaranteed selection and i would have dropped him earlier in the year. I don't think he does that well as a shut down defender (decently) and is a liability when rebounding.
I far prefer mginnity these days and given how i felt about him at the start of the year thats pretty amazing.
Also prefer smith.

That was really good and imo his game on the weekend wasn't that bad. People often look at one terrible mistake (like the dropped mark) and shueys HTBalls and it overshadows the rest of their game. That being said i would prefer to drop A selwood over ebert.

Except for the fact that the three blokes on the bench are all defenders.

I was just working from the official team last week, I'm sure there's some changes to be made, but personel wise that's how I'd have it.

Comes down to who comes out for Kerr who will be the only inclusion.

It might be Cox if he doesn't come up, otherwise the unlucky one will be either McGinnity, Masten or Ebert. My tip would be Ebert.

Masten or Gaff to be sub
