We face a conundrum peeps- Waite, Majak, Preuss.

Wood is 60 years younger than Waite, Wood is also mobile like Waite, so Wood doesn't make us 'top heavy' and neither does Waite.

Turner is playing a fwd defensive role I believe stats for him haven't really be a concern. Not sure this week though, but if he had a job to do and delivered I can't see him being omitted.

Goldy is just going, but Preuss isn't going to make us sharper.

Brown in the ruck robs us of our best fwd, also the opposition put a fair bit of work into him and this benefits the likes of Wood.
Majak is another guy that while he's big of stature he is mobile, and can ruck and his pressure is first rate. There's also perceived pressure players don't want to be slow when Maj is around.

Cannot see a spot though for both Maj and Waite. Reckon I'd go with Maj due to his ability in the ruck, then I can foresee Waitey flying across the pack and pulling in screamers.

In; dunno

Out; dunno (EVW inj ?)

Looking forward to selection on Wednesday.
I'm with you, I'm choosing Maj over Waite with extra flexibility Daw provides

Plus more importance we can place on wood is good as he is the future and the now, Waite is playing his final year, should be transitioning Waite out of the team now

100 out of the 110 points came from Fremantle turnovers, in the 3rd where they used the ball okay, it dried up Richmonds rebound game. We must not bomb the ball blindly next week. We must hit targets and deny them the quick rebound.
Agree and one thing I have noticed about our game this year is that we are prepared to slow the game up - hit short targets and deny the opposition the ball.

I think if we can continue to do this we are well on our way against Richmond - if we turn it over we are finished but after 7 games this year I don't think we are the butchers of Arden street anymore - I like what I am seeing in terms of skill.

Our overall DE might be higher or lower than last year - I'm not sure - but it certainly looks like we are prepared to be patient rather than just bombing it in.

Are you watching what Richmond are doing right now? We absolutely cannot play that many talls. Run and speed is what this game requires.
Majak Thompson Tarrant
Waite Brown Wood

It’s too tall

No Maj this week. Richmond have one genuine tall. They will most likely run us ragged as it is.

I’m a big fan of Goldstein but just for the sake of wanting to see some Richmond players get hurt it’s time to play the Preuss.

Outs EVW and Goldstein

Ins Waite and Preuss

I’d bring daw in for goldy
Ahern in evw
Waite in for turner - Waite/wood to swap between fwd and wing

Jacobs to Martin - cotchin goes missing all by himself.

Out: Zurhaar, EVW (injured)
In: Waite, Ahern (LDU looks like he needs more vfl time)

F: Simpkin Brown Turner
HF: Ziebell Waite Wood
C: Anderson Jacobs Hartung
HB: McDonald Thompson Macmillan
FB: Williams Tarrant Wright
F: Goldstein Cunnington Higgins
I: Atley Clarke Dumont Ahern

Richmond forward pests:
Riewoldt 193cm/92kg 17 goals 14.6 disposals 7 goal assists
Castagna 181cm/80kg 13 goals 12.6 disposals 7 goal assists
Martin 187cm/92kg 13 goals 25.1 disposals 8 goal assists
Caddy 186cm/88kg 12 goals 19.0 disposals 1 goal assist
Townsend 187cm/89kg 10 goals 9.3 disposals 10 goal assists
Higgins 177cm/76kg 8 goals 7.0 disposals 3 goal assists
Butler 182cm/80kg 7 goals 12.4 disposals 8 goal assists
Lambert 178cm/77kg 7 goals 21.6 disposals 4 goal assists

The guys who get more of the pill obviously do more midfield rotations, those that don't get much tend to spend more time in the forward line. They have other guys that push forward, including guys like Lloyd and other mids, they can change up the makeup quite dramatically but it tends to typically have the same components, ie they aren't going tall up forward.

Tarrant can go with Riewoldt, Thompson probably suited for someone like Townsend. Depending on if Prestia is out hurt and if Cotchin comes back this week (i think he will) it will probably dictate how much time Martin/Caddy spend in the middle.

Other than the two key defenders, guys that I am more confident in doing defensive roles in order of confidence:
Wright 188cm/86kg
Williams 181cm/83kg
McDonald 189cm/89kg
Atley 189cm/86kg
Clarke 184cm/87kg
Macmillan 188cm/89kg

We are a little large down back with the team I have picked but I think this is as good as it gets for us.

I think we will need some more run as Richmond have got a lot of good runners, I think it would be okay for Ahern to get a crack off the pine, might be a trial by fire but at this point in time I think LDU doesn't have the wheels/tank, I think this is more of a strength for Ahern and he showed some good VFL form prior to being named as an emergency.

Waite is a much better option than Zarhaar, it is going to be important that defenders can't feel they can sag off and get into Ben's space because they don't think their man is a scoreboard threat. Rance hasn't been in great form so I would like to see him one-out on Brown. Astbury and Grimes are very solid defenders and I think we need good options (Wood and Waite) to ensure they can't bring numbers to the contest. They also have good smaller defenders who create a lot of attacking drive so our other forwards will need to be on the ball defensively, might even see Atley play a defensive forward role like he did in an earlier game.

We get them at a good time. Soft underbelly as they haven’t really been challenged. We will be up in this up to our necks as long as we bring the intensity. Had a read on their board, you would think they had just won a 3 peat is their arrogance “ we need injuries to test our depth” “**** we are good” “1st gear all day””no one can get near us” They are so ripe for a spanking!

Sorry but Soft underbelly? Based on what exactly?

:D;) Keep the faith, if we can towel up Sydney: if the match committee picks the right ins and outs and the ins have their collective heads on straight, we are in this up to our eyeballs. Go Kangas :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I'd be keen on taking a look at hovrat again for turner. I'm not that down on turner, but we could do with more production, and perhaps there is an opportunity there.

For EVW, I think you move ziebs down back and shuffle things about accordingly, which lightens up the forward line before the expected re-inclusion of waite.

Fascinating possibilities. Do we pick a team to negate Richmond, or a team that (if we get things going out of the middle) will make it harder for Richmond negate?

The latter.

You play to their one and only strength when you go down the negation path.

Out: EVW
In: Waite

Lmac goes back to find form. Being behind the ball will help this.
Waite goes to the wing.

Fairly simple selection this week if everyone else is fit.

Saw a stat somewhere last night, twitter maybe.

Luke has been playing in defence all year. The stat said his % numbers in the backline this year have risen from 44 last year to 87 this year.

Similar to Clarke, he's was up to around 75% backline this year.

Reading the Richmond board . They must sit in huge circles just pleasuring each other . It's terrible.

Many of them have gone bat shit crazy.

The whole Dusty thing followed by the Bradbury run to the flag has acted as some type of psychological breaking point.

It's time for Luke to play full time midfield

Not too sure you can discount their ability. Like it or not they’re actually a good side.

They're good at negating opposition ball movement by hand and sprinting from the contest at the turnover.

They are a running variation of Sydney 2005.

That, in a nutshell, is Richmond.

Hey, actually think we might drop this one at Etihad. Every top 4 side drops a few games through the year and this could easily be one of those against a side that we historically have struggled with at Etihad. If you get $3+ odds or anything silly like that Id be backing that strongly as a North fan.

Should be an absolute cracker with a big crowd and awesome atmosphere under the dome where it gets damn loud.

That's a good way to get better odds on the tigers tell the numpties there in with a chance watch them put there life savings on it while we clean up on the $1.20 on offer
Which one of you north fans will let snake baker live with you after he looses it all??
