Anyone know if Maj trained this week?

North assistant coach Josh Drummond is optimistic North will regain talls Jarrad Waite (rested) and Daw (foot) for its clash against ladder-leader Richmond on Sunday at Etihad Stadium, after both missed the round seven win over Sydney.

"(Daw) is tracking well, he's training today, so we're hopeful he and 'Waitey' will come up this week. It will just be how they train today," Drummond said.

"Maj has been a real positive for us this year, so we would certainly love to have him back."

If Jmac wants to hold his spot in this team, he needs to take on these roles.

Caddy is overrated

Im struggling to find a spot for Jmac once Garner, Maj, Ahern and LDU all get back in/debut
Caddy will make a mess out of Jmac, Jmac cannot defend 1 on 1, constantly gets bailed out by our 2 key pillars back there.
id prefer he plays at half forward if anything or better yet out of the team.

Yes, but I'm not sure there's room for Waite, Brown, Wood AND Daw. We could be too tall across the ground to match them.
I like to see us take them on instead of trying to match them (I hope you understand the meaning), and I think that means we go a little taller and try to make their back six as uncomfortable as possible. A forward line with Brown, Waite, Wood and Ziebell all capable of the contested mark and some crumbers with speed (Atley and Hrovat/Turner) is worth the gamble and could put the pressure on Rance to be more accountable and reduce his influence.

I like to see Majak flatten one of them early doors.

Dusty if he's proppy especially.

If they see a big hit on Dusty and him being helped off the ground, they'd all shrink back down to normal Richmond size and shitness.

Would like to see Maj come in for EVW if he's fit. The tigers have reiwolt and Astbury as key talls, and Scott Thompson would be handy on a stronger type like Caddy or Dusty.
We haven't had many marks taken against us inside our def 50 this year, playing a bit taller down there has been working well. Hoping we can continue this great improvement.

So make them match us instead.
I think that's a bit arrogant/naive from us, and would be playing into their hands.

They are the best in the comp, and their game is built around smaller hard running players, who can kick goals, and they do it better than anyone. We don't have the same number of quality smaller hard running players to compete with that, and us going in taller is not going to help our cause in combatting and over coming their strengths.

I hope I'm wrong.

Caller: "knock, knock"
JW: "whose there?"
Caller: "Carl"
JW: "Carl who?"
Caller: "Carl Ton are shit since you left"
JW: "hehe yeah you're right Carl"
Caller: "My name isn't really Carl, it's me.. Cunners.."
JW: "hehe you can't fool me Carl"
Cunners: ** hangs up **

I don’t think it’s arrogance, it’s playing to our strengths. As you said we don’t have the quality of smalls to match them, but we do have quality talls that could stretch them, so play to our strengths not theirs.

What? Astbury plays as a defender

Yeh I mentioned earlier in the week I dont get this we need to play small. We play our own game......we play our own structure etc etc.

So if Richmond are so successful with this......it will be the way AFL will be played for the rest of time? No, the teams/gamer evolve to different game plans to beat the best opposition and the way Hawks won in their 3peat is different the way Richmond are playing now.

Our talls are not slow and are quite mobile. And what may work one week may not work the next. And then you need to factor in having the players being able to execute it.

I'd rather we be the ones being followed, not the ones following others as it may work at the time.
